Description
How entering a note right after watchlisting could look like
Pages can be watchlisted for a variety of reasons (protecting pages from vandalism, watching for announcements, watching to stay generally updated on changes on an interesting topic, keeping track of content one added to a page, keeping track of changes to a certain section of interest). When watchlists get large, it can be easy to forget why a page was watchlisted in the first place. Please enable users to add notes to watchlisted items. These can be added when watchlisting a page in the box where one can currently configure for how long the page should be watchlisted. A note is different from a label in that it can be longer and is designed to usually be different for each article instead of just one of a small set of labels/tags. A note could maybe get a label – so for example a note like "Keep track of sections 'Research' and 'Statistics'" could get the colored label section. Notes can also be added or modified long after the article has been watchlisted. There could for example be a context menu button next to the watchlisting-star button in articles where one can add this info and a preference for a button to add a note to a watchlisted page directly from the Watchlist. The note could be shown in full or at hover or when clicking a button the watchlist (could be a setting). Related wish: (copied then modified problem intro from there)
