Queer Welsh History 2026 - Cardiff Editathon

Tuesday 16th June 2026 6pm to 9pm

Venue: The Queer Emporium, 2 - 4 Royal Arcade, Cardiff, CF10 1AE

Join Wikimedia LGBT+ and Wikimedia UK for an in person friendly social to help improve Wikipedia’s coverage of Queer Welsh history in English, Welsh or any other languages you speak.

We'll hear from local LGBTQ+ historians and then have some time to get editing!

Who is this event for?

This event is open to experienced and brand new editors interested in editing articles about LGBTQ+ history here in Wales.

No prior subject or Wiki knowledge is needed (although we very much welcome those who do have expertise to share). We will provide some information and resources on the day and a worklist with suggested edits for anyone who needs some inspiration.

Do I need to come for the whole event?

The speakers will present first so if you don't want to miss them, make sure you arrive for as close to 6pm as you can manage.

If you are an experienced editor, feel free to drop in as you please.

For any new editors we'll be offering a short training on how to edit Wikipedia and troubleshooting support with your first few edits. If possible, we ask that new editors come for the whole session so we can train you all together. However if you need to arrive late, we'll do our best to get you started with the basics.

Finding us

If you are travelling by train, The Queer Emporium is a short walk (0.2 miles) from Cardiff Central or 0.5 miles from Cardiff Queen Street station.

If travelling by bus, the nearest stops are a similar distance and are on St Mary's Street, Customhouse street or at the back of John Lewis (Bute Terrace) or the new bus station is 0.2 miles away.

It's a small venue so we'll be easy to spot!
