Resource Request

How to use this page

Making a request

Before asking volunteers to look for your source, try finding it yourself with the tools at your disposal.

In particular, eligible editors can use the Wikipedia Library, which gives access to content provided by numerous academic publishers.

Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.
  • Though we would prefer you to ask for a specific journal, article or work, we will accept open-ended questions. You can ask for all kinds of sources here, either on this page or by writing directly to an active user.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, date and identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc. Indicate which article you need this for.
  • Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot send you full book/thesis copies. Narrow down your request to a specific chapter or page(s).
  • Since we cannot post original copyrighted material online, we will most likely send it by email. Make sure you have specified an email address in your preferences before asking.
  • Add the {{Resolved}} template when your request is completed.
  • Filled requests are archived. Requests unfilled after three months will also be archived.

What to try next

If you are unable to obtain what you need here, you may be able to get it via the WMF resource support pilot.

Fulfilling a request

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests, in full or in part. When fulfilling a part of a request, tell others which one so that they don't have to do the same work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{u|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:

Contacting editors directly

Shared sources: Editors post sources they are willing to share access to at the shared resources page.

Books about folktales of Southeast Asian peoples (Tai Khamti and Shan)

The following books were written by academics of the peoples themselves.

1 * Sai Aung Htun Dr. (2020). Taikhamti: Legends & Law. Shan Literature and Culture Association. pp. 1-6 (introduction), 75-80 (tale 16. "The Python"), 143-156 (tale nr. 29 "The Young Man from the Emerald Mollusc (Sao Hoi Seng)").

The introduction is for Khamti people as a possible source, tale 16 for "The Story of the Hamadryad" (girl marries python).

The alternate for tale 29 indicates it is a Khamti variant of Sang Thong (aka. "The Prince in a Golden Conch [Shell]"), because "Hǒi-sang" was the name used by J. Leyden and Captain James Low to indicate the existence of the tale in the early 19th century.

2. * Pu Loi Hom; Pu Loi Tun, eds. (2014). Shan Legends. Zaw Oo. pp. 109-121 (text for tale nr. 14, "The Story of Ai Maung of the Tousled Hair (White Shell-fish, the future Buddha)", 300-308 (text for tale nr. 48, "The Story of a Fairy and a Prince"), 314-317 (text for tale nr. 51, "The Youth of Emerald Mollusc").

The Story of a Fairy and a Prince is homonymous with a tale first collected from a Shan source and published by Mrs. Leslie Milne in 1910. Milne's tale is a Shan variant of ATU 408 and the Indian "The Belbati Princess". Would like to see if it another variant or a reedition of Milne's text. In the latter's case, will add it as a reprint and later to separate the Shan tales.

"White Shell-fish" has a parallel title to a Shan tale published by B. R. Pearne in Journal of the Burma Research Society with the title "The Silver Oyster", which has been pointed as a Shan variant of Sang Thong. Possibly another variant of the Shan tale.

"The Youth of Emerald Mollusc" has a similar title with the Khamti "The Young Man from the Emerald Mollusc (Sao Hoi Seng)".

@KHR FolkMyth: Sent the second request. – Doc TaxonTalk • 13:45, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello. Got it. Thank you. Yes. One was a reedition, the other was a version of the tale of "Sang Thong"/Silver Oyster in a Shan tale. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 15:23, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
@KHR FolkMyth: I'm having a hard time finding information about the first book. It is not the same publisher, but are you potentially referencing this? If not, could you supply a link to an index like Google Books or WorldCat? Thanks. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 14:07, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
Well, I found a link to the National Library of Myanmar, indivating that the book exists somewhere. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 15:28, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
KHR FolkMyth, available copies of the books seem to be few and far between. There is the one that you found in the National Library of Myanmar, and the Department of Ethnical Literature & Culture-Kachin State also appears to have a copy, given the Facebook post here. Two bookshops also appear to have it: one here, for $3.5, and one here (although that post is from 2020). The first of those also includes a link to the book's table of contents, acknowledgements, introduction, and foreword. Note that the author died some months after publication, so reaching out to him is not an option. The reality is that the book is going to be difficult to borrow from a library. The best option would likely be to reach out to some of the parties above, and see if they would be willing to provide a scan of a few pages. (The bookshops may be less likely to do that, but while it's less than ideal to have to pay for sources used on Wikipedia, the cost before shipping does appear to be nominal—maybe they'd provide a scan so you wouldn't have to also pay for shipping?) --Usernameunique (talk) 18:27, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback. I don't know. Is it an alternative? KHR FolkMyth (talk) 20:30, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
No problem, KHR FolkMyth. Is what an alternative? --Usernameunique (talk) 20:38, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
To get in touch with the author/publisher. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 20:47, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
Getting in touch with an author or publisher is frequently a good way to get a copy of an article, especially when it's a niche piece; mentioning that it's for Wikipedia is also sometimes helpful, because it (a) shows it's for research (a reason for which authors, themselves researchers, frequently can relate), and (b) implies that the article might become more widely cited. Particularly here, when you're looking for a book that we can't find a trace of outside of Myanmar, I would try every available avenue. --Usernameunique (talk) 03:03, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
KHR FolkMyth, WP:Resource support pilot might also be an option. --Usernameunique (talk) 07:47, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
KHR FolkMyth, have you thought about the above idea? The program is looking for more requests. --Usernameunique (talk) 23:32, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
I did think about it, but it is a new venue for me, so I'm not too sure how to make this new request via the "Resource support pilot". How can I proceed? KHR FolkMyth (talk) 23:48, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
I haven't made a request there either yet, but this seems well in scope: a painfully obscure work that will be difficult to obtain without purchasing, and that has therefore been languishing on this page for seven months. You can enter your username at the top of the page here, then fill out the form. You'll need to link to this discussion (which explains the difficulty of obtaining the book), give the articles you plan to use the book for, and provide the link of Myanmar Bookshop (above), from which the book can be bought. Let me know how it goes! --Usernameunique (talk) 23:55, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
KHR FolkMyth, have you decided whether to go with the above approach? I think that is your best bet. --Usernameunique (talk) 02:17, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
Well, who will provide the funds for purchasing the book? I've been mulling over the question before giving a more definitive answer, since I'm trying to expand the scope of Asian and African topics. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 14:24, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
Doing... This here seems to be very difficult. I try to help somehow. But you have to be patient and keep your fingers crossed. – Doc TaxonTalk • 15:03, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
okay,I can get the book for 67% sure – Doc TaxonTalk • 18:20, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

@ARandomName123:: The book is indeed very short. For the time being, is it possible to provide pages 16-22, for Ali et Korré Doldol? I can do without the other tale (ATU 408) for now. But thank you for the help. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 00:00, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
I'll try, but 16-22 is still a bit more than 10%, so I can't promise I'll get the full range. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 02:39, 8 March 2026 (UTC)

French books

I need to find the French books mentioned above to plan to write an article on the Society of the Ming dynasty, translated from French.

Thanks, Min968 (talk) 05:16, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

@Min968 We can’t send you entire books, due to copyright restrictions. BorgQueen (talk) 05:22, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
@BorgQueen @Min968 But what we can do, aside of mentioning shadow libraries (in which I did not find the books in question, shrug) is to point such editors to the new Wikipedia:Resource support pilot. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:58, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
@Piotrus I'm not surprised that even shadow libraries don't have them. Compared to English-language works, far fewer French books appear to have been digitized. BorgQueen (talk) 21:44, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

First Fruits

  • Six Years of Accomplishments. Huntington Hartford Foundation. 1956. OCLC 83877747.

Hey folks, this is a tough one. I'm working on a sandbox article for the Huntington Hartford Foundation. There's an important source from the Foundation that was published in 1956. It is more commonly known as First Fruits, and is held by major libraries under that name, but two of them have it under Six Years of Accomplishments so I included that alternate OCLC just in case. UCLA, Harvard, and NYPL all have copies. Thanks for any help. If you have access to the work, let me know as I have a few questions, mostly having to do with the history of the property and the names of all of the fellows, as they are very hard to find. There were supposedly 400 famous artists hosted by the Foundation, but the sources are almost non-existent. One of the reasons this is important to me is because while Huntington Hartford was a very flawed man and had some very strange, eccentric ideas, and caused a lot of problems in the art world at the time, there are recent sources that attribute some measure of historical interest to his indirect promotion of the concept of contemporary art over the term "modern" (he wasn't the first, but he helped contribute to this debate), and the idea that his art colony, for all its wasted money, produced some measure of success, results which have been lost to time and are left to others to discover. This is also a very California-oriented topic unique to that state's history, and there's a dearth of coverage about it. For comparison, we have Druid Heights in NoCal, Moy Mell in SLO, and Rustic Canyon, this topic, which has not been covered on Wikipedia in any depth. Thanks. Article by Denver Webb from Issue 31 of The Coelacanth (1993)

  • Webb, Denver (1993). "Paul Xiniwe – Pioneer Black Businessman in the Cape Colony". The Coelacanth. 31 (2): 44-51. ISSN 0530-0231. OCLC 5878549875.

I'm currently working on Paul Xiniwe, and one of the references on the page cites this journal. I'm hoping that the full article will have more information on Xiniwe and his life that I can use in the article.

There's a couple journals named "The Coelacanth", but from context I'm assuming it's this one from Rhodes University in South Africa. Their online archives only have 3 issues, none of which are the one with Webb's article.

Does anyone know where I can find this article? I've tried looking in TWL, but it doesn't seem to have this particular journal (unless I'm missing something, as searching for "The Coelacanth" mostly brings up articles about the fish).

Thanks in advance. Tymewalk (talk) 02:34, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Access to Italian and Griko folktales of the Animal as Bridegroom cycle

1 * Green tickY Section "AT 433 Il figlio serpente" Aprile, Renato (2000). Indice delle fiabe popolari italiane di magia (in Italian). Vol. 2. Leo S. Olschki. p. 807-810. ISBN 9788822248558.

These two for King Lindworm and The Girl with Two Husbands. "O re serpente" is a Griko tale, which, per Renato Aprile's summary in his Index, has the same double narrative of the Greek tales: heroine marries snake prince and disenchants him, revives dead man and marries him, chooses between first and second husbands.

3 * Il ria rekko or Il re porco Paolo Stomeo, ed. (1980). Racconti greci inediti di Sternatìa (in Griko and Italian). La nuova Ellade. pp. 24-33 (tale nr. 3).{{cite book}}: CS1 maint: unrecognized language (link)

For King Crin, Italian tale with the enchanted husband in pig form; geographically, it is located in Italy; ethnographically, it is a tale told by the Griko people of South Italy.

For The Golden Root. "Tuone e Lampe" is the name of the heroine's husband, meaning Thunder and Lightning.

5 * Petrosinella Paolo Stomeo, ed. (1980). Racconti greci inediti di Sternatìa (in Griko and Italian). La nuova Ellade. pp. 288-303 (tale nr. 27).{{cite book}}: CS1 maint: unrecognized language (link)

For Prunella (fairy tale). In Italian variants, per Renato Aprile's Index, the heroine's name, Petrosinella, can indicate it to be a variant of Rapunzel/Basile's Petrosinella (ATU 310) or AaTh 428, "The Wolf".

EDIT: Added a sixth tale.

Szmenderowiecki, for the ALR, there's the fairly well-organized public-domain 1919 version, and then it's just been updated over the years with a "cumulative supplement" with headnotes from bazillions of cases that mention clean hands with little or no topical organization. I don't think you'd find it very useful, and it runs to north of 200 pages, which is more than I can plausibly claim fair use on. The more recent ALRs focus on much narrower topics (e.g., "Unclean Hands as Bar to Equitable Relief in Domestic Relations Proceeding or Dispute"). Extraordinary Writ (talk) 21:50, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
Understood. I will see, based on existing sources, what specific domains I may request the ALRs for. I have patents, environmental litigation, a bit of commercial relations, so I will see what I can get to get a diverse cross-section.
(For reasons beyond me, the 1919 edition is available as search-only even though it's in public domain) Szmenderowiecki (talk · contribs) 01:25, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

Book on Vyacheslav Lypynsky

For Vyacheslav Lypynsky

Hi, what I need is his university years. I am basing this upon the table of contents I found for the book, so what I would need specifically is chapter II: LATA STUDIÓW W KRAKOWIE I GENEWIE (1903-1909), but also the chapter right after that III: DZIAŁALNOŚĆ PUBLICYSTYCZNA, NAUKOWA I POLITYCZNA (1908 - 1914) W JĘZYKU POLSKIM would be great.

Thanks, • Apollo468  19:46, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

Czechoslovak Figure Skating Championships – 1925, 1928, and 1930

I am having trouble finding sources for the Czechoslovak Figure Skating Championships held in 1925, 1928, and 1930. There is a good chance that the events were held in mid-January. Josef Slíva was (very likely) the men's champion at all three events, and Mrs. Vesela was probably the women's champion in 1928. I need the men's, women's, and pairs results. Any help locating newspaper articles for these results would be appreciated!

"The Antiquities of Ramtek Hill, Maharashtra" and "The remaking of Ramtek Hill under the Yadavas and Bhosles of Nagpur"

These sources are both for Ramtek. The first is about the temples and other monuments at the site, and the second is about the place's more recent history. They both look invaluable for expanding the current article, and I would greatly appreciate it if I could be able to access them!
