Reconstruction:Proto-Indo-European/ḱh₂d-
Proto-Indo-European
Etymology
The *a vowel is reconstructed on the basis of Ancient Greek κέκᾰδον (kékădon), where *ḱh₂e- should have yielded χᾰ- (khă-) due to laryingeal aspiration.[1] Speculative links have been made to *keh₂d- (“hatred, angriness”).[2]
