Your mass categories

Hi there. Definitely you should first read COM:Categories to understand what it is for, or let it be. Any category to create should have minimal added value and be connected to other categories. Now when you create Category:Railway stations in Attica by municipality and the only content is "Category:Train stations in Greece", without any connection to Attica etc., there is no added value and such mass category creations are not welcome here. Regards --A.Savin 04:29, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Okay, I think I have been a bit too active in identifying Greek railway stations. How about that we merge Railway stations in Attica by municipality into Train stations in Greece by municipality, and I add descriptions to the other categories? --Minoa (talk) 04:34, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
It's not about descriptions, but about proper categorization. --A.Savin 04:39, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
I understand and I am sorry if I unwittingly made a mess. I am happy to work with you to resolve the problem by doing a full revamp of the geographical categories of railway stations in Greece. I originally created the Athens municipality categories because the railway categories of Greece were already divided like that, but now I think it may not be an appropriate division. I think a better structure could be:
Greece > Regions > Regional Units (Attica only)
What do you think? --Minoa (talk) 04:47, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. GPSLeo (talk) 10:43, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

Transilien line V

Hello, a part of RER C in Paris, will be detached to become the line V of Transilien. The icon will use the same color as the line K. Lyon-St-Clair (talk) 10:30, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

@Lyon-St-Clair: Hello, I am not doing well right now but I will try and upload the Transilien V icon as soon as I can find a source confirming the line colour, although the artwork will be straightforward. --Minoa (talk) 21:06, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

Sorry I have not been doing well recently. There are too many things in my mind right now that are unrelated to Wikimedia. --Minoa (talk) 22:21, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Small change in Athens transit icons regarding Suburban Line A1

Hello, could you change the text colour in Line A1 and Line 7 to white in order to be coherent with the rest of the icons?

Thanks in advance, George Gkaridis0 (talk) 12:27, 6 November 2025 (UTC)

That would make the icons unreadable: many public transport systems use dark text on route icons that use light colours like yellow, such as the London Underground Circle line and the U4 of the Berlin U-Bahn. --Minoa (talk) 12:43, 6 November 2025 (UTC)

U-Bahn Berlin - Line Icon Requests and Adjustment Suggestion for U10 Icon

Hello,

I'd first like to express my graditude and thanks towards you for the creation and management of all the line icons not only for the Berlin U-Bahn, but also S-Bahn.
I'd like to request two line icons for Berlin subway lines, one being fictional and one actually being a real line in the database for trains ending at a station of a different line.

The U23 is a line that's used for services that end on the U2, but start from track sidings of the U3 (YouTube example). While an U23 icon is not known to officially exist and the train signals U2 even on the U3 segment, it would still be interesting having an icon for that connection.

The 2nd icon would be for a fictional connection that I thought of, which is the U67. This connection would work perfectly as the track connections allow smooth changeover in both directions when looking at a track map of the network (the last map in the list), and from what I have heard, there is infact an announcement database for this line, and I remember having seen a picture of the newest trains displaying that line in one of the maintenance depots.
I tried rediscovering it, but it seems to have been removed from social media. This is the account (Instagram) it came from.

Along the two requests, I also want to suggest an adjustment to the U10 icon. Despite you mentioning there doesn't seem to be any suggested/planned line colors to use for this icon, I found multiple items that speak against this and suggest that the line icon was planned to be black. One being a text line on a fan-managed wiki page (however without citing any sources), and one being an user on Facebook having designed their entire profile around the U10 in support of it (Facebook).
I was however unable to figure out which exact tone of black the icon would've used, or if BVG had planned any at all. But there are multiple possibilities.

The Facebook user's reinterpreted U10 icon uses a specific tone of black or dark gray at HEX #2A2D2F or RGB 42/45/47.
An archived guideline for designing the passenger information system displayed on the Berliner Fenster uses "traffic black" (Verkehrsschwarz) at HEX #252424 or RGB 37/36/36 at page 5.
An officially public guideline from VBB for designing the federal-nationwide passenger information of Berlin-Brandenburg uses "traffic black" (Verkehrsschwarz) at HEX #000000 or RGB 0/0/0 at page 14.
Maybe you are able to figure out more from this point on.

Thanks in advance and thanks for everything else

Sincerely, ~2026-24056-15 (talk) 23:44, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello,
I cannot accept requests for fictional icons, because without underlying notability (like Duff Beer and San Serriffe) or significant media coverage (which justified the U0 icon), it may not be within the scope of the Wikimedia Commons. While we accept lesser-known fictional media for use in user pages, as long as it follows the usual rules, we are not a personal web host and cannot host icons for use outside the Wikimedia projects.
I also cannot upload an icon for the U23 at this time, because I have seen no evidence of BVG using it (even internally). I considered creating all icons from U0 to U99, and S1 to S99, but I did not proceed because it is not like the New York City subway, where the MTA used nearly all letters and numbers one way or another (see New York City Subway bullets/Standard set).
I also note that the colour for the U10 icon appears to come from the header of this page, which appears to be the choice of the page's author, and not sufficient to justify changing the colour at this time.
Best, ----Minoa (talk) 09:21, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
Hello,
Iam the one who made this request; I had some issues with setting up an account and getting marked as spam through some attempts of posting the first message that I sent it a a guest. Just to clarify.
Regarding the U23 icon, I can happily provide evidence it exists. I've been shared an image of code tables for the passenger information of the small profile lines, and the U23 switching line does have an icon in the table. Additionally, it seems the U13 is also present. Hopefully this is enough for you :P

@Myron0117: Sorry for the minor delay, because I had to get the original fonts from my server, export the relevant glyphs to SVG, and then put it together via TextEdit: I have now added Berlin transit icons - U13.svg and Berlin transit icons - U23.svg, based on the ELA table. --Minoa (talk) 18:29, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
