Context

In 2011 AirviewOnline.com agreed to license low resolution images of their stock aerial photography collection under CC-By-SA By making this donation, AirviewOnline.com wishes to increase the usage, and therefore the global awareness, of their commercial image library by leveraging the visibility of Wikipedia.

These images will be extremely useful to illustrate Wikipedia articles about Australian suburbs, landmarks and geographical features.

Presentation

The Airview collection includes aerial photographs taken from the early 2000's to today - primarily of Sydney and surrounds but also many other areas of Australia, the Pacific and some international locations. This photography is expensive to create and therefore is extremely difficult to obtain under a free-license. This collection of images represents the most significant release of in-copyright material to Wikimedia Commons from a commercial organisation.
