You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Information on temporary account IP viewer rights

Hello MathXplore,

On November 12, temporary accounts will be enabled on Commons. The IP of unregistered users will then be hidden for most users. You, as a patroller or license reviewer, are eligible to request the new temporary account IP viewer right, if you need it to continue fighting vandalism and abuse on Commons. On what basis you put my User Page under U3?

Promotional Material = content promoting or publicizing an outside organization, individual or idea. (COM:SPAM, COM:ADVERT, w:WP:SPAM, w:simple:WP:SPAM)

I came here to suggest the same thing. Even if you don't want to delve into the madness that is the DR backlog, you do a ton of spam fighting and User:MathXplore/CSD log speaks for itself. I apologize the late response & failure to comply with the aforementioned expectations (reasons: m:Special:Diff/28421281, m:Special:Diff/28572190, q:Special:Diff/3878033, d:Special:Diff/2417044330). My current plan is to contribute to Wikimedia with easier options like COM:CSD. I never expected COM:RFA, and my current schedule and mindset are not ready for RFA. I am the composer Alberto Maggioni (artist name: Helbert di Maggio), and I am the owner of this account. I noticed you nominated my official portraits for speedy deletion under CSD F10.

Please note that these photos are not for personal use or social networking. Together with my team, we are currently finalizing my encyclopedic biography and creating a draft for a Wikipedia article. These files are strictly intended to illustrate my upcoming educational and biographical profile.

I am the sole copyright holder of these images, and I want to release them under the free CC-BY-SA license. Could you please remove the speedy deletion tag so we can proceed with the biography?
