Share Your Struggle 2021 - A public photo competition (15 - 31 August)
Share Your Struggle 2021 (15 - 31 August 2021) is a public photo competition on Wikimedia Commons. The goal of the project is to improve coverage of free usable media files related to various struggles, such as, natural disasters, health crises such as COVID-19 pandemic, social movements, conflict-torn areas, and any other humanitarian crises. The goal is not only to document crises, but also humanitarian efforts and acts of kindness that happen during such crises.

Your speedy deletion requests
Hello, Paramanu. On your recent speedy deletion requests, you used speedy reason C1 (improperly named category), but you didn't give the correct category name. I was able to delete most of the categories for a different reason (because they were empty), but I had to decline the delete on Category:Photographs of Ashy Drongo (Dicrurus leucophaeus) because it contains files.
You are welcome to do another speedy deletion request, but if you use reason C1, please give the new category name. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 08:52, 16 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello Paramanu Sarkar, I just wanted to know why you removed most of the categories from the file named above (those on different species)? Since there are always the same categories for the same series of ornithological photos, this does not make sense. Unless you see an inconvenience, I will restore the categories concerned. - Anastomus oscitans is the main subject in this photo and rest of the species are in background and defocused. There are far more clear picture of those species by this same author (who happens to be my wife), that's the reason. But if you feel those categories are important please go ahead and restore them. - Thanks for your reply, I suspected that was why. Since this file is part of a series of similar photos, where the stork was also the main subject, I wondered why this image would have a different categorization for species in the background. We’re excited to announce that the Wiki Science Competition 2025 in India is being organized for the very first time at a national level. This global campaign celebrates science through freely licensed images, videos, and other media on Wikimedia Commons. By participating, you help make science more visible, accessible, and inspiring to people everywhere.
The competition features eight exciting categories:
- People in Science
- Microscopy
- Astronomy
- Everyday Science
- Scientific Equipment
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Special Category
Campaign Duration: The competition will run from 1 November to 15 December 2025. You can upload your images anytime during this period.
Images taken before 1 November 2025 are also eligible, as long as they have never been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons before.
We’re excited to introduce the first-ever dedicated "Mobile Photography" participation option. Now, you can upload photographs taken with your mobile phone directly through a special upload wizard.
This new option is designed to encourage students and individuals who may not have access to high-end cameras like DSLRs to participate. Whether your images are captured using a mobile phone or a professional DSLR, all submissions will be judged equally within the relevant category. This ensures that everyone has an equal opportunity to capture and share the wonders of science from their own perspective.

Why removing useful categories?

- As per COM:HIDDENCAT "This category is not shown on its member pages unless the appropriate user preference is set." Which means that all the categories removed from the images you modified should be restored. Please fix your mistakes. Recent Great Grey Shrike VI nom
Hello Paramanu Sarkar:
I am sorry your nom of Tisha’s Great Grey Shrike image did not make VI.
I tried to suggest a smaller sub-species scope that had better VI potential but even that proved to be a stretch. The core problem is that there are many avian photographers at Commons. From tjis, the quality and number of bird images has increased significantly, particularly for the more popular species. Tisha’s image is very good, but there are many others.
In your VI nom, you took exactly the right approach which is to address any issues that are presented. Don’t be discouraged with VI. It has its rules like QI & FP. Do more VI nominations.
