Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

vidio sam tvoju kartu čakavskog narječja ovdje na Wikimediji Commons (Dijalekti-Čakavskog-narečja.svg), pa me zanima mogu li je malo doraditi. Također, zanima me što si koristio kao podlogu -- očito imaš vektorsku kartu bivše SFRJ s granicama (ali bez rijeka i gradova?). Zanima me smijem li je ja koristiti. Osim toga legenda je na srpskom, što je malo nezgodno za staviti na verziju Wiki na engleskom. Osim toga, ima više podjela čakavskog narječja, ova je po Brozoviću (bez buzetskog, to je miješani čakavski-slovenski dijalekt), a postoji još jedna (po Vermeeru). Ja bih mogao iskoristiti tu podlogu da nacrtam druge pojave -- npr gdje su kakvi refleksi jata i sl. Lijep pozdrav,
Hvala na brzom odgovoru! Mislio sam jasno napraviti drugu kartu (izvedenu iz ove tvoje) gdje bi bile samo različite boje, a legenda bi bila posebno (u tekstu) tako da različiti jezici mogu koristiti istu kartu. Nešto slično kao ova moja karta: File:Map Istrian Dialects Cakavian Brozovic.svg
Na tvojoj karti nema buzetskog dijalekta (oni imaju poseban glas za ě, kao Slovenci i Kajkavci), a mogla bi se malo doraditi da se ucrta i onih nekoliko sela u Sloveniji gdje se priča čakavski. Moja ideja je da na kraju imam kartu cijelog zapadnojužnoslavenskog prostora (dakle, od južne Srbije do Koruške) gdje se mogu vidjeti razne jezične pojave.

put the preliminary seat of Government Bradys on the map, perhaps as a circle filled yellow - I think it is the unnamed town between St. Peter's and Davy Hill, but I'm not certain.
in the legend, add (de jure) to the capital (circle filled red)

SVG "flowtext" problems
I don't use Inkscape to edit SVG files, so I can't really advise you what to do within Inkscape. But 1) Try to turn off all "flowed text" options. 2) If you want to edit the files further, then download the last version I edited, and base your edits on that. In making SVG files from scratch, most often I use PostScript (see Category:Generated by PostScript). The only maps I've done that way are File:Gor-map-simplified.svg and File:Simplified-Narnia-map.svg. I'm not sure I would advise you to use Word 2007, since that's more of a word processor than a text editor. However, removing everything between a <flowroot and corresponding </flowroot> will banish mysterious black rectangles... AnonMoos (talk) 12:35, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Здраво, видео сам да сте се раније бавили уређивањем мапе "Map_of_Eparchies_of_Serbian_Orthodox_Church-sr.svg" па сам тим поводом хтео да Вас замолим, ако будете имали времена и воље, да покушате да пронађете некакво графичко решење којим би било избегнуто да читава територија Румуније буде обележена као да је у надлежности наше Темишварске епархије, која у ствари има надлежност само над српским парохијама и манастирима у румунском делу Баната. Тај део би требало осенчити, а остатак Румуније оставити изван тог захвата. То напомињем због овог садашњег српско-румунског црквеног спора, да не испадне да се на српској Википедији пропагира надлежност наше Темишварске епархије над читавом Румунијом. Допуна: Требало би пронаћи и некакво решење за подручја Чешке и Финске, пошто је реч о земљама које имају своје матичне православне цркве, а присуство Српске православне цркве у тим земљама се остварује у виду специјалних парохија које постоје уз сагласност матичних православних цркава. Стога би требало избећи да се читаве територије Чешке и Финске укључују у сасатав српских епархија, већ би посебним тачкама требало означити само Праг и Хелсинки, а у легенди навести да се таквим тачкама обележава специјално присуство на територији других помесних православних цркава. На другој страни, подручја Ирске и Португалије, која су сада необележена, требало би укључити у саставе надлежних епархија. Ирска је у надлежности Епархије британско-скандинавске (Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Britain and Scandinavia: Ireland), а Португалија је у надлежности Епархије западноевропске (Прва српска црква у Португалу). I am adding South Sudan (as well as Montenegro and other possible missing updates) in the PNG maps in Category:Maps needing South Sudan political boundaries and then remove this category after updating them. There were close to 1100 maps since I started to update these files on 1 March 2018, now it is reduced to less than 570 maps, but there is a long way to go.
Unfortunately I don't know how to edit SVG maps and complicated PNG maps myself, that is why I asked you.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just five images to become the Picture of the Year.

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!

Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.
Here are your top three winning images:

I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
