Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). Film uploads
Thanks for your uploads of films. When you upload complete films or short films, it would be great if you could add a category like Category:Videos of short films from 1931 or Category:Videos of films from 1931 if it's not a short film (like a cartoon).
Additionally, when you add the video to a Wikipedia article, please also add it to its linked Wikidata item: go to Tools->Wikidata and then scroll down and click add statement->select video->enter the video title.webm -> click on add qualifier->select object of statement has role->select full video on Commons->click publish. I did this for you here: d:Q4951496. This is useful to make the files queryable via Wikidata and to make them show up in wikiflix. Thanks, Prototyperspective (talk) 11:50, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
Apologies for impatience
Hi, I have to apologize to you for my impatience after I pinged you about photo and video uploads on Wikipedia. My comments on talk pages for short film articles prevented you from uploading photos of title cards and videos of the shorts. The Media Expert (talk) 21:44, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
- It's not your fault. I had other commitments on English Wikipedia, and the Harman-Ising era of Looney Tunes are VERY grating to watch through, and converting mp4 videos to mov videos is time consuming (Wikimedia's client does not work as well). Go D. Usopp (talk) 02:53, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- @The Media Expert if you have other concerns you can ask me at my talk page, as long as it is not about goading me to upload videos. I upload YouTube videos of the original films, with no reissues/television prints/modified by YouTubers, whenever possible. In case you're going to upload later Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies films, Blue Ribbon reissues of public domain films usually aren't in the public domain itself as they are copyrighted separately. Go D. Usopp (talk) 02:58, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
- Since you mentioned your mistake about Blue Ribbon title cards on my talk page on Wikipedia, what are the four Blue Ribbon cartoons that have known renewals? The Media Expert (talk) 14:50, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- @The Media Expert they are Flop Goes the Weasel, Fin 'n' Catty, An Itch in Time and Crowing Pains, who are in the public domain because the Blue Ribbon version is copyrighted. Only Crowing Pains is found and it still has copyrighted characters along An Itch in Time, while the other two are lost for now. Go D. Usopp (talk) 15:04, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

Hello @Go D. Usopp, whenever you are not busy with other commitments on English Wikipedia, could you edit this video to remove the CCCartoons logo at the end? The Media Expert (talk) 15:53, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
- I will eventually catch up and upload a new version when I edit and create all LT/MM films before it. No need to rush. Go D. Usopp (talk) 16:15, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
