Use photo of Venice Arsenale
Dear mr Moroder,
We would like to use your photo for a digital map. We will give you credits ofcourse. Is that okay? ~2025-39995-49 (talk) 09:11, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
Sure, but please send me the link to your publication, regards Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 10:54, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
I think one photo is public domain
I was looking at this and it appears to be art form over 100 years ago: Gejù ciacia i marcadënc dlieja de Santa Cristina te Gherdëina but I was not able to 100% confirm this as I don't speak Ladin & Google translate does not either. I speak Italian if that is easier than English. You can't have a separate copyright for a photograph of 2D as this is, so this would be copyright free being well past the limit in Italy. If you could check and change it to CC0 if appropriate, that would be great. (I am just using it for a slide in a theology lecture in January as I teach in the seminary.) MPSchneiderLC (talk) 20:07, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
I don’t understand exactly what your concerns are. Anyway the fresco AD 1910 is by Jonas Ranter (1860-1931). I’m glad that I can be helpful for you lecture. Wolfgang Moroder (talk) 13:57, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
Delacroix La lutte de Jacob avec l’angre - ask for permission
Could I please use this image (uploaded 4 December 2018) for my EPQ on Delacroix? It says the image of this painting is not public domain. My EPQ is not intended for publishing but or my final A-level Grade. Than you! ~2025-43706-13 (talk) 11:09, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
I am updating my web page listing sculptures at London's 1851 Great Exhibition. I believe one of the pieces there was a version of the piece in your photo. I would like to add a link to your photo, with a thumbnail of the image. The current version of the page is here:

Your Most Memorable Shot Submission!
Hello Moroder!
Camera1 mgxCommons-Photographers User Group-logo-en
As we step into a new year, we’re happy to invite you to take part in “Your Most Memorable Shot 2025.”
Since 2018, photographers from across the Wikimedia community have come together at the beginning of each year to share the photographs that meant the most to them over the past twelve months. Now in its eighth iteration, this tradition continues to be a space for reflection, storytelling, and celebrating meaningful moments through photography.
Whether you are a member of the Commons Photographers User Group or not, you are warmly welcome to participate and invite others too. Every image carries a story, and your perspective helps enrich this collective showcase.
Whenever you’re ready, please select your most cherished photograph from 2025 and share it on the designated page.
The deadline for submissions is 28 February 2026, so we hope you’ll join us before then.
We look forward to discovering the moments that made your year memorable and to continuing this wonderful tradition together.
We love your image and we would love to use it for an article on our editorial Italy Segreta. We'll give proper credit as requested. Please let us know if we have the permission to go ahead and use it. Thank you! ~2026-95991 (talk) 16:32, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

Hello, thank you very much for contributing to the site with relevant and high quality photos.
I would like to ask if you agree to grant me permission to publish one of your photos in a private board on Pinterest:
Pinterest is an American service for publishing and organizing media into image galleries, which are defined by the site as "boards". Although officially classified as a "social media" platform, it operates primarily as a visual search engine.
The board for which the image will be uploaded is set to private and have no contact with the public, fulfilling the personal purpose of constructing a visual map for the understating of Ottoman architecture. I have no intention of setting this board to public and I will remain it under personal use.
The photo is licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0, which allows me to "copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially". As far as I understand, my intentions with the image can be therefore classified under fair use, however, even though the image won't be public, it will be a part of Pinterest servers, so I would like to know if you authorize this usage of the image.
If, for some reason, I should need to set the board to public, I will inform you beforehand and will abide by whatever your preference may be of deleting or keeping the image.
Thank you very much for reading my request and contributing with this site with your wonderful and carefully curated work.
My best regards! Mc2671 (talk) 14:54, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

I thought your image would be perfect to represent a climate in my climate classification
In my handcoded nonprofit website which showcases the Dickinson climate classification, this image is a perfect representative of the Cda2 (subtropical arid with hot summer) climate. I always appreciate image coordinates because they allow me to run a script using them to see what Dickinson (or Köppen) climate that location is during a climatological normal period such as 1981-2010. This is the Cda2 webpage:

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2025 voting is open!
2024 Picture of the Year:Mundari man polishing the horns of one of his Watusi cows using a mixture of cow urine and ash as a ritualistic and protective practice in a temporary cattle camp in Terekeka, South Sudan.
Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2025 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the twentieth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favourite images featured on Commons during the last year (2025) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just five images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2025 voting is open!
Dear Wikimedian,
You are receiving this message because we noticed that you previously voted in the Picture of the Year contest. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favourite images featured on Commons during the last year (2025) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
In this second and final round, you may vote for a maximum of five images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2025.
I see a beautiful picture that you have posted of the Basilica di Santa Maria. I am studying design and I would love to have your permission to use your image to talk about the intricate details of this beautiful church. I read that you don't mind if we use your image as long as we give you credit and send a message. Jannabanana88 (talk) 14:10, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

Photo of San Marco
Dear Wolfgang!
I would like to ask if I might use your photo featuring the spires of St Mark’s Basilica for a poster for a choir concert at St Petri Cathedral in Bremen in June. We will be performing 16th-century Venetian music for multiple choirs. The concert is not for commercial purposes.
We would also like to post the poster on Facebook (as we do with all our posters), on the Bremen Cathedral Choir’s page.
We would be delighted to receive your approval,
Kind regards,
Ulrike Bergmann-Seifert (member of the Cathedral Choir)

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!
Hi everyone,
Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.
Here are your top three winning images:
First place: The aftermath of an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on October 9, 2023, leaving widespread destruction in the Rimal area. Attribution: WAFA (Q2915969) / CC-BY-SA 3.0
Second place: Baby cape fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus) sleeping at Cape cross, Namibia. Attribution: Giles Laurent / CC-BY-SA 4.0
Third place: A gigantic jet photographed from the International Space Station by astronaut Nichole Ayers. Attribution: public domain
You can view the full results and see where all your favorite images placed here: Full 2025 Results
I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
