Thanks for uploading File:Barbas, École-mairijpg.jpeg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{self|cc-zero}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Yes, that was an upload error - can be deleted. The name of the correct identical file is File:Barbas, École-mairie.jpg. Thanks. Rauenstein (talk) 13:57, 5 August 2024 (UTC)

Error in address

Hello, this building you have have photographed is not the 5 rue de la Cure but the 6 place de la République and is not the building referenced in Mérimée database under PA00085320 (IA68006195), but the one under IA68006207. It seems there has been some confusion in Mérimée at some point and one picture of this building has ended in the entry of PA00085320, but the other pictures and the descriptions show it’s an error. I’ve made the corrections on Wikidata (and will do the necessary ones on French WP), but I feel renaming the file here would be a good thing to prevent more confusion. Otherwise there is risks people add it again in good faith on Wikipedia pages, especially as we don’t have pictures of the true 5 rue de la Cure. Runi Gerardsen (talk) 19:14, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello, the photo is a few years old, but I seem to remember that the number 5 was written on the wall of the house. Because the rue de la cure is also identical to the place de la République, it was very confusing for me at the time, as it was in other places in Altkirch. 'But I don't know what to do now. Why "wrong category"?

Hi Rauenstein, why you removed this category saying is wrong? I'm trying to understand the rationale: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Ami_Fritz_-_Flickr_-_Jean-Michel_Priaux.jpg&diff=prev&oldid=1026276666 thanks Ivanbranco (talk) 16:36, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

I see, the stress was missing, and the category was about another city. But in such cases I think the category should be fixed, not deleted? Anyway, I fixed it now. Ivanbranco (talk) 16:42, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

Why reversing ?

I'd like to have some explanation about the recent systematic reversing of my edits in wCommons. From time to time I ad a caption in Dutch to images , an action proposed by Commons itself. ( A few hundred by now ). Results look OK. Now you start reversing this edits, that are followed by a different kind of edit, with the same result. Before I continue doing this edits I would like to understand what is happening here 178.118.29.254 08:59, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

Previous entry is made by me Jef antenne (talk) 09:40, 15 July 2025 (UTC), login was somehow not accepted at that moment.
Hello. I'm just undoing your changes to my photos. They all have a description, first in the local language in which the photo was taken, and then in German, because I'm a native German speaker and have been including all my photos in German-language articles since 2005, when Commons was launched. Ten years ago, some nutcase put a mask over the upload form, suggesting that an image description should be included. Even though it existed before that. The reason for this was probably that countless users were uploading photos with names like "Church 2" or "Image 3" etc. But you've now fallen for it, too, and the result is that for photos in the German-speaking part of France, the image content is in Dutch, right at the top. That looks strange, to say the least. I have nothing against Dutch, which is spoken by over 30 million people. It's just not the prominent first language used in the image descriptions for the photos I upload. That's why I've added the Dutch description to the German and French ones for the old mask. Imagine if a Chinese speaker had the same idea as you... No offense, and best regards.--Rauenstein (talk) 21:34, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. Now I understand what's bothering you. Indeed one might rightfully wonder why there are two forms for doing exactly the same thing. Thing is that when you work directly from a Wikipedia-page one adds the description in the 'new' form, without seeing, thus noticing, there is another one too. Looked ok because de description in Dutch was only visible in the Dutch WP, other WP's kept the original description (checked a few)
So, from now on, I must keep in mind to switch to Wcommons before adding a description in Dutch to a picture.
It's obvious that, although I like my native language, I had no intention to 'overrule' other languages.
Das gilt selbstverständlich auch für Deutsch.
Mit freundlichen Grüssen Jef antenne (talk) 13:01, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
Reversing rathaus Raynans. Was hab ich jetzt falsch gemacht? Ich glaubte es war so gemacht wie Sie es mir erklärt hatten. Jef antenne (talk) 17:19, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
As you might have noticed, I did some experiments trying to understand how this works, and it' s getting more and more confusing. E.i. you reversed Eglise Saint-Laurent at Soulce-Cernay:Indeed in the description areas the Dutch description disappeared in both description boxes, but if I tap on the picture in wikipedia I still get the Dutch description I added.
.. Other thing: at some of your pictures it's impossible to add languages in the extended (second) description area, French and German are there, but other can only be added in the small, first description area ...And the software keeps encouraging me to add descriptions in Dutch and English.... Jef antenne (talk) 16:55, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
After your reversing @ mairie de vandoncourt, the description in the wikiPEDIA'articles disappeared in all languages, before they were all in French. The result of my action was that the description was in Dutch in the Dutch Wikipedia and in French in the French and English Wikipedia. Did not check other languages. Does this make sense to you? Greetings Jef antenne (talk) 12:23, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

I just undid your change for the reasons stated above, and everything on my computer is fine as before. Rauenstein (talk) 12:41, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
