Thank you very much Adam. -- IamMM (talk) 21:28, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
Thank you
… for nominating this photo on the QIC page!:–) I would probably not have dared to nominate it because the eye is out of focus (many people say that with animals the eye must always be in focus); but it was impossible to get both the wing and the eye sharp (could not do focus stacking etc.), and in this case the beautiful wing was more important. So thank you very much! Best, -Aristeas (talk) 07:13, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
@Aristeas: Well, I was a little skeptical about the butterfly's eyes too, but I ignored it because of the desirable wing sharpness and of course the funny shape of its legs, which seem to be walking. IMHO The quality of the images should be measured based on the weight of the disadvantages and the advantages of the whole. In this case, the image quality as a whole seems quite convincing, I can even say that I have seen successful butterfly nominations with lower quality than this one in FPC so far. -- IamMM (talk) 12:30, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
for nominating this photo by me for the QI status! --Aristeas (talk) 08:53, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for taking this lovely picture, Aristeas. This is on my list for FPC nomination, but I prefer to give higher priority to challenging pictures that have a lower chance of passing, and IMO this is not one of them, so this one may not come soon. If you want to nominate this image now, I will support it. -- IamMM (talk) 12:12, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
Sorry for not answering to your nice words, IamMM. It is a great honour for me that you consider to nominate this picture! Because of that I wanted to take a closer look at the file first before answering, but did not find time for that until now. Well, I think the photo is indeed good (especially the staind-glass windows are very sharp and detailed); but there are some very minor points which I would like to improve before nomination. I hope that I will find time soon to do this. Then I will contact you again. Thank you very very much and all the best, --Aristeas (talk) 15:27, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
Hi again Aristeas. You informed me on time because I was planning to nominate it tonight. IMO the current version is a significant improvement over the previously nominated version but I have absolutely no problem reaching maximum perfection for images that are on the way to FPC. Whenever you feel the result is satisfactory, just tell me. -- IamMM (talk) 19:17, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi IamMM, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all occurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move&Replace-tab.
Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
This is a deletion request for the community to discuss whether the nominated page should be kept or deleted. Please voice your opinion in the linked request above. Thank you very much!
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
Hello IamMM, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! It has been a pleasure to have you as a fellow Wikimedian this year. Wherever you are, enjoy the festive season and stay warm (if you're north of the Tropic of Cancer)! Your help in maintaining, improving and expanding Wikimedia Commons will always be appreciated.
I would like to wish you happy holidays, relaxing vacations, and a Happy New Year!
Thank you very much for your many contributions to Wikimedia Commons! Your excellent nominations and friendly behaviour contribute much to making the Featured pictures valuable and the Featured pictures candidates page a more friendly place.
Thanks for your kind words dear Rhododendrites. I really hope that FPC noms will go in the same way as you say and the variety of images and participants will increase. -- IamMM (talk) 03:04, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for withdrawing the nomination
I understand why you nominated it. I am glad you saw the problems and reacted with good sense and empathy towards those who might feel offended. Kritzolina (talk) 07:04, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi Kritzolina. Learning about cultural appropriation was a valuable point for me considering the multicultural environment in which I live, unfortunately I had never heard anything about it before. -- IamMM (talk) 17:23, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

New FP gallery section for minatures (illuminated manuscript)
Hello IamMM,
you have nominated several minatures (illuminated manuscripts) for FP status. Thank you very much for that; I really love medieval and oriental illuminated manuscripts!
I had noticed that the previous gallery was not fit miniature (illuminated manuscript) works, but I had no idea how to create a suitable gallery for these artworks. -- IamMM (talk) 14:17, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
Dear IamMM, I hope you have not left forever;–). You are one of our most tasteful critics, your nominations on the FPC page were amont the best findings ever offered there. So I hope to see you there again;–). In any case, I want to send you kind regards and best wishes!

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!
Hi everyone,
Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.
Here are your top three winning images:
First place: The aftermath of an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on October 9, 2023, leaving widespread destruction in the Rimal area. Attribution: WAFA (Q2915969) / CC-BY-SA 3.0
Second place: Baby cape fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus) sleeping at Cape cross, Namibia. Attribution: Giles Laurent / CC-BY-SA 4.0
Third place: A gigantic jet photographed from the International Space Station by astronaut Nichole Ayers. Attribution: public domain
You can view the full results and see where all your favorite images placed here: Full 2025 Results
I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
