Result of a deletions request
Hello Wdwd, you might remember me as the one who nominated File:Ordensstaat Burgund.png for deletion, which you rejected. I had not noticed the verdict until now, and am sorry for the late reply, but believe that the file really did deserve deletion and I would wish to make my case.
First off is the history of the concept with Wikimedia. The topic of an "Order State of Burgundy", which the file represents, has been deemed to be a made up concept by a post-war relevant figure, Feliz Kersten, who was Himmler's therapist during the war, and whose statemnts have been found to be false multiple times in the past. Its Wikipedia article was subsequently deleted, and the "Project Burgund" one, only use of the map outside of a personal user page (which would violate the policy of not allowing personal uploads to Commons as it is not an image storage service for individuals), took its place as it's tied to many translations of the former English article in its "Languages" tab.
Further, the file has remained sourceless for all three years of its existence, and it comes from an author whose talk page is full with deletion requests, only exception being the mention of the file this topic is over. They do not seem like a reliable source.

- Hi Sandjaar, I can't say much to your statements, related to the history and content of this map. My decision not to delete this file is based on the fact, that currently this map is (and was) used in en:Project Burgund, and this usage will result here in commons to a: "file is in scope" and a "kept" in the DR. Beside copyright rules and some other topics which are not related in this case. The minimum requirement to delete a file, because it may be "out of scope", that this file is not in use by any wikimedia project.--Wdwd (talk) 18:31, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
