EugeneZelenko, I have permission from Joe DeCarolis by email, but that is clearly not sufficient. So I will follow up with the VRT procedure as described. I am meeting Joe by video tomorrow and will make that request. It may well take more than 7days for Joe to respond, so I ask for some grace in terms of early deletion. Did you know that Wikimedia Commons recommends the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format for certain types of images? Scalable Vector Graphics are designed to look appropriate at any scale, and SVG images are easier to modify and translate, helping Wikimedia to distribute knowledge to all of the world. A lot of modern programs support SVG export. If you encountered problems or have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. (To avoid any misunderstandings, please don't just put raster images into an SVG container as embedded raster.) EugeneZelenko Thanks for the comment. I am familiar with SVG and regularly use inkscape. I am currently talking to the creator of the JuMP logo (see above) to obtain an SVG version with a Creative Commons CC‑BY‑4.0 license embedded. That should be finalized in the next few days, I hope. @Asclepias: Yes! I now have high‑resolution scans of this image and others on the same roll of IlfordHP5. And a plan of how to upload and link both the TIFF scans and the JPG conversions. (But I got sidetracked into providing images from that same trip to a project on the German reunification being organized by the German Embassy in Aotearoa/New Zealand — so having to juggle my volunteer workload at present.) Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.

I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
Hello there, RobbieIanMorrison! I recently noticed that you at some point created the category page "Category:Nicholas Omnook", but didn't place the category in any other category. Categories on Wikimedia Commons should be hierarchical, which means that they should (much like images on Commons) be categorized according to for example topic, origin, source, and other properties. I was about to categorize it myself just now, but I'm not certain what the category is about and what it's meant to hold. It would therefore help the project if you could categorize Nicholas Omnook, so that it may easier be integrated and found in the project.

Yes, the file File:Nicholas Omnook at Fridays for Future strike 14 Feb 2025 a.jpg has those categories, but not Category:Nicholas Omnook. Those are separate pages that both should be categorized. The file is correctly categorized into the circumstances of the photo being taken. The person should be categorized according to the person's properties, like nationality and profession.
