Regarding recent images

Hi there, I want to let you know that I'm not entirely sure if you are aware but I have been making attempts at trying to credit the original sources as best as I can. Social media posts with posters could in theory be considered under the creative commons licenses. The links I have sent were straight from the official sources but let's be completely real to be honest. A lot of this website's own rules are incredibly inconsistent and in theory, to get permission from some companies is sometimes impossible as they will ghost you or have no way of contacting them at all. That is all and I hope you understand in the future that a lot of this site's rules on permission are incredibly obsolete when put to practice. Unknownuser45266 (talk) 11:17, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

@Unknownuser45266: Sorry, but social media posts cannot "in theory" be considered to be under a CC licence: either they are or they aren't. If you are finding it difficult to upload copyrighted work onto Commons, this may be because Commons does not host copyrighted work. Belbury (talk) 11:26, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
I'm sorry but this "us vs. them" mentality is the biggest flaw for this site in general. I've had to deal with that sort of mentality for a long time and maybe it's time to at least get a bigger picture on how complicated image copyrights and permission from companies can be. Unknownuser45266 (talk) 11:30, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
@Unknownuser45266: I'm not sure what you're suggesting as an alternative, or who the "them" are. Commons definitely understands that it's very difficult to get companies to release images under a free licence. Belbury (talk) 11:35, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
