- There is no need to delete the picture. I answered you in the Deletion request as follows: I took the picture after I asked permission from the people I photographed. I always ask at booths like this. But I have no problem with the request of the person photographed on the right, he changed his mind and regretted it. That's why I cut him out of the picture, please delete the first version. Now he doesn't appear in the picture. This is a fix that could have been done without putting the picture up for deletion. Old jars
Hi Hanay, hope you're fine. :) I'm writing to you because I recently created Category:Collared-rim jars, but immediately after I realized that this other Category:Collar lip Jar also exists: you created it, that's why I'm here. :) As far as I know, collared-rim jar is the right definition of the Haifa jar I see in here. The same wikidata element is called Collared rim jar (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q16133025).
Do you mind if I suggest merging the two categories under the name I selected? I can then check if the name you chose can work as a soft redirect.
Anyway, the root of the matter is the fact that I created the article in Italian (work in progress): https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaso_con_orlo_a_collare. I put one of your photos to show what a collared-rim jar looks like. :)))
I know these are difficult times in Israel, so forgive me if I bring up what may seem like a trivial matter, and indeed it certainly is. If you don't have time to discuss it with me, don't worry; I'll do some more research and let you know. Until then, all the best! pequod ..Ħƕ 01:05, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, can you send me a link to a reputable archaeology site in English that uses the term you suggested Collared-rim jars ? Thank you very much for your reference to the difficult times in Israel. When is it not difficult in Israel? We are a country in turmoil. Hanay (talk) 04:36, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, yes, sure, here you have some examples:
- Then you have a lot of results on Jstor and other WMLibrary repositories, as you can see in the bibliography I used for the article in Italian: the term, introduced by Albright, is also used in books written in languages other than English (for instance in Liverani, Oltre la Bibbia, 2003, Laterza) but I still decided to use an Italian expression that appears in some publications. pequod ..Ħƕ 00:19, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Pequod76 Thank you, I have no objection to changing the category name. Thank you very much for your concern. Hanay (talk) 06:49, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Hanay, I checked the old name "collar lip jar", but couldn't find anything specific. I assume you got the name from some source, though. I left the old name on Commons as a soft redirect. I'd consider deleting it if it doesn't have solid sources behind it; I'll leave that up to you.
- Thank you for your collaborative spirit! See you next time! pequod ..Ħƕ 15:16, 11 January 2026 (UTC)
