English: Cities may be defined as any large and dense settlements, as opposed to villages. Different countries have different definitions of cities, and individual cities may be categorized as such, although "by city" categories may be used for settlements of any size.
Simple English: Cities are places where a large number of people live. Smaller number of people live in villages. All countries do not use the word "city" in the same way. Individual cities in a country may be put under the city categories based on how the country uses the word "city". The "by city" categories may be used for any places where people live.
