Hi Smailtn, your image File:Common Dandelion Radès forest.jpg cannot show Taraxacum officinale because of the unusual form of the achenes and because of the angular stem. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it is, except that no flowers are visible (just a partial infruitescence). I corrected the caption, the description and the categorization, but the file name is still wrong. --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 15:55, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
Dear sir, thank you for your message, please what can i do? delete file or rename it with the correct name? Smailtn (talk) 22:00, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
Renaming it is probably best. Somebody else might be able to identify the species and it may well be that there is no image of this plant on Commons yet. I completed your rename request. --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 22:06, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
BTW, I just uploaded your photo to Plant@Net. It says that your plant might be Urospermum picroides. This looks like a very good match and the species is quite common in the Mediterranean area. The respective genus has only two species and the other one is completely out of the question. --Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 22:26, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Categories
Hello Ismail,
Thank you for uploading your pictures. I invite you to pay attention to the fact pictures should be categorized carefully in order to be easily retrievable and usable. There is a gadget which may help you: Help:Gadget-HotCat. The idea is to select the most precise parent categories, then use HotCat to navigate through subcategories until you find the most suitable one. These refer to the location but also elements we can see on the picture. You can see an example of an edit I made here. Moumou82 (talk) 21:38, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
All your existing pictures are categorized so no action is needed, but I advise you to be careful for your future uploads and query me about the right categories to include prior to that. Moumou82 (talk) 13:27, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
hi Moumou, Hello, I understand your message and how to add categories based on the photos published. Thank you very much for your help and support. SAIDI Ismail (talk) 14:41, 4 April 2025 (UTC)

Results of Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 are out!
Hi, Greetings
The winners for Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 are announced!
We are happy to share with you winning images for this year's edition. This year saw over 85715 images from 1912 uploaders represented on Commons in over 142 countries.
The international organizing team is preparing a session on Wiki Loves Earth International at the upcoming CEE Conference this September. In this session, we will uncover the hidden stories behind the submitted photos — and we would love to feature yours!
Behind every Wiki Loves Earth photo, there’s more than just nature — there’s you: the adventure, the challenge, the deep sense, the surprise, or even the funny coincidence that made the shot unforgettable.
📸 Did you hike 10 km at sunrise to get that perfect view?
📸 Did an unexpected animal step into your frame?
📸 Was the landscape hiding a secret only locals know?
📸 Was it taken in a fragile ecosystem or a territory under threat from climate change or human activity?
📸 Or does it show a place already damaged, reminding us why preservation matters?
📸 Or maybe the photo/video changed the way you see nature?
This is a deletion request for the community to discuss whether the nominated page should be kept or deleted. Please voice your opinion in the linked request above. Thank you very much!
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2024 voting is open!
Dear Wikimedian,
You are receiving this message because we noticed that you previously voted in the Picture of the Year contest. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2024) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
In this second and final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2024.
Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
Wiki Loves Folklore 2026 has started, Join us!
Hello Smailtn,
The world’s traditions are disappearing faster than we can document them, but you can help change that.
On behalf of the Wiki Loves Folklore International Team, we are reaching out to invite you to contribute to the 2026 edition of our global campaign.
Share Your Cultural Heritage with the World
Wiki Loves Folklore is an international media contest dedicated to documenting the "intangible" beauty of our cultures. Whether it’s the vibrant colours of a folk festival, the rhythm of a traditional dance, the secrets of a family recipe, or the legends of your hometown, your media helps preserve these legacies for generations to come.
How You Can Contribute
Participating is simple, and every upload contributes to the world's largest free knowledge repository:
Capture: Take photos, record videos, or capture audio of folk activities, music, mythology, or traditional wear.
Upload: Share your files on Wikimedia Commons between 1 February 2026 and 31 March 2026.
Win: Beyond the satisfaction of preservation, there are international prizes for the most impactful contributions.
Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2025 voting is open!
2024 Picture of the Year:Mundari man polishing the horns of one of his Watusi cows using a mixture of cow urine and ash as a ritualistic and protective practice in a temporary cattle camp in Terekeka, South Sudan.
Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2025 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the twentieth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favourite images featured on Commons during the last year (2025) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just five images to become the Picture of the Year.

Smailtn thanks for adding images for Wiki Loves Africa. As you noticed I moved many of your images from Category:Wiki Loves Earth 2026 in Tunisia.
Please do NOT add images to Category:Wiki Loves Earth 2026 in Tunisia or any other Wiki Loves Africa category, as these are already added by the template {{Wiki Loves Earth 2026|tn}}.
I also notice the category Category:WLE 2024 Tunisia unreviewed is added. As you can see by the red link and the year 2024 that is incorrect too. Please do not add that category either. HenkvD (talk) 09:38, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
We also invite you to take part in the categorization of recently promoted quality images.

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!
Hi everyone,
Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.
Here are your top three winning images:
First place: The aftermath of an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on October 9, 2023, leaving widespread destruction in the Rimal area. Attribution: WAFA (Q2915969) / CC-BY-SA 3.0
Second place: Baby cape fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus) sleeping at Cape cross, Namibia. Attribution: Giles Laurent / CC-BY-SA 4.0
Third place: A gigantic jet photographed from the International Space Station by astronaut Nichole Ayers. Attribution: public domain
You can view the full results and see where all your favorite images placed here: Full 2025 Results
I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
