lb localization
I'm not sure what lb is exactly, but thanks for the sitenotice localization. Can you also do the same for the script the notice relates to? You can edit User:Rd232/myuploads.js directly or leave a note at User talk:Rd232/myuploads.js. cheers, Rd232 (talk) 22:42, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Can you help translate the text on the file page to English? I can't figure out what "zoukomme gelooss huet" means.:-) --MGA73 (talk) 18:46, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
'Eege Foto vum Aloyse Ludwig, dee se dem Benotzer:Cornischong zoukomme gelooss huet' I would translate this with 'Photo from Aloyse Ludwig who transferred it to User:Cornischong' best regards --Robby (talk) 03:58, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
PS I've not put it on the file page as I did not really got how you preferre to have the english version of the text.
Hi. You nominated the file for deletion on Commons. Why not nominate the file on lb.wiki for deletion also? --MGA73 (talk) 18:02, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
As there is much more expertise on 'licensing' of pictures I suggesteed it here, I had the intention to just follow the decision taken on commons on lb-wikipedia. But you are right there is no reason not to nominate theis file as well for deletion on lb-wikipedia an dI wil do so right now. --Robby (talk) 20:34, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Okay. That would also have worked fine:-) --MGA73 (talk) 18:58, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Autopatrol given
Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have grantedautopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry (talk) 01:18, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
many thanks for the expressed trust --Robby (talk) 21:22, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Please consider adding iw-links in a different way here on Commons[edit]
Hi Robby,
Thank you for your message. I was not aware that it was creating issues. Could you please show me in the Hirasawa Kurō category how it should be done correctly so I can follow the format going forward? I do know that one of the issue on Commons is that Commons categories sometimes get linked to a corresponding Wiki article, even though a separate category exists for it at the same time. Categories should be linked to categegories and articles to articles, but in case there is no corresponding category can an article be enough?
Thank you.
- Jan

Hello Robby, as you can see here I added a Commonscat-template on the en-wiki immediately after creating the category here. My experience is that pretty soon after that Wikidata will be updated by a bot that will add that commons category to the Q-item and then also the interwiki becomes available here. - Robotje (talk) 11:15, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
Aristotle (Politics)
Hi Robby, Thanks for your advice. In fact I have not been putting in Wikidata myself because someone with a sharp eye has been supplying Wikidata boxes on almost all my new categories. That is why I only put the link - to serve as a time-saver for that person (or persons). On this one you just happened to catch it just after I created the category but before the wikidata box was added. It's division of labor. Someone obviously is specializing in Wikidata so I suggest we let that person take care of it. I've put in a lot of such links but they never last very long. So what you are doing there in reverting my temporary link is depriving the Wikidata person and the general public of a labor-saving device. I will not contest your reversion. I do suggest you not revert any more. It's a waste of your time - adding an unnecessary step to the process. The time can be best spent on something else. Team work. Capo Passero
Salut, Capo Passero c'est pas (ou mieux, c'est pas seulement) un phare, c'est surtout une fortification, en italien c'est connu comme "Fortezza di Capo Passero", et plus rarement comme "Faro di Capo Passero". -- SERGIO(aka the Blackcat) 15:23, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
Category:Velied has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.
In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Thanks for uploading File:Patrol boat of vietnamese customs.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.
Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2022 voting is open!
2022 Picture of the Year: Saint John Church of Sohrol in Iran.
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

The above templates (SD, speedy, Badname) expand to full speedy deletion requests.
In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page. Blanked categories end up on Special:UncategorizedCategories, which is largely handled by non-admins who cannot delete the categories in question.
If you believe the content does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, you may replace the speedy deletion tag with a regular deletion request (if the content has not been deleted) or request undeletion (if the content has already been deleted).
All your uploads, including deleted ones, are listed in your upload log.

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!
Hi everyone,
Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.
Here are your top three winning images:
First place: The aftermath of an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on October 9, 2023, leaving widespread destruction in the Rimal area. Attribution: WAFA (Q2915969) / CC-BY-SA 3.0
Second place: Baby cape fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus) sleeping at Cape cross, Namibia. Attribution: Giles Laurent / CC-BY-SA 4.0
Third place: A gigantic jet photographed from the International Space Station by astronaut Nichole Ayers. Attribution: public domain
You can view the full results and see where all your favorite images placed here: Full 2025 Results
I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
