Review request of Bangladeshi licenses

Hello @Raymond: ,

I hope you’re doing well. I’ve been updating several Bangladesh-related licenses. As I am new to license creation and translation tags, could you please review these changes to ensure they are correct?

Also is the name {{PD-Bangladesh (traffic signs)}} appropriate? Out of three reasons provided, one is PD, one is {{OGL}}, one is "copyright usable".

{{FoP-Bangladesh}} is old. I want to transfer this into modern translation format but it has existing translations.

Also I want to make {{PD-Bangladesh-Architecture}} based on my proposal Commons:Village pump/Copyright#FoP in Bangladesh; you can leave your opinion there if you want.

Thanks in advance.Tausheef Hassan Auntu ✉Talk? 20:32, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello @Tausheef Hassan. Thank you very much for your work on license templates of Bangladesh. Sadly I do not anything about the law of Bangladesh and therefore I cannot review the templates on a legal base. I am just a translator into German and do some easy fixes as translateadmin on such templates, like removing the old lamguage list, which is nowadays superflous. For help like changing into modern format with existing translations please ask on Commons:Translators' noticeboard. I have never done such work. Raymond (talk) 12:46, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

You may be an eligible candidate for the U4C election

Greetings,

The Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) seeks candidates for the 2026 election. The U4C is the global committee responsible for overseeing enforcement of the Universal Code of Conduct. Elections are held annually, if elected a committee member serves for two years.

This year the U4C requires candidates to hold administrator rights on at least one wiki, which is why you are being contacted as you appear to hold this right. There are other requirements, such as candidates must be at least 18 years old and may not be employed by the Wikimedia Foundation or other related chapters and affiliates. You can find more information in the call for candidates on Meta-wiki. Additionally, the committee's working language is English; some ability to communicate in English is required.

The election opens on 18 May, if you are eligible and interested you have until 10 May to submit your candidacy. There will week between for candidates to answer questions from the community. Voting takes place privately in SecurePoll, successful candidates must receive at least 60% support. More information is available on the 2026 Elections page, including timelines and other candidacy information. If you read over the material and consider yourself qualified, please consider submitting your name to run for the committee. If you think someone else in your community might be interested and qualified, please encourage them to run.

Commons Photographers: Our next meeting (05/2026)

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

I hope you’re well and enjoy your time as a photographer on Wikimedia Commons. In my role of the new chair of the user group, I have a couple of updates to share with you.

After the election, the new board met for the first time on March 21 and immediately got to work. We elected the organization’s officers and decided to move from quarterly to monthly board meetings. We believe meeting more frequently will create more opportunities to serve our members effectively and help move the group forward.

We also successfully applied for a pre-conference at the upcoming Wikimania in Paris (July 21–25). If you’re planning to attend the conference, please consider joining us on July 21th for a day full of conversations about photography and Commons. Please sign up here if you’re interested.

And finally, it’s my pleasure to invite you to our first online meeting, which will take place on May 31. Our member Wojciech, an experienced concert photographer, will give a talk on photographing orchestras during live performances. I’m especially excited that we’ll have the opportunity to meet online again and am very much looking forward to this event.

Please feel free to sign up for our first meeting in 2026 on this page: Online Meeting on May 31st.

In the meanwhile, I hope you're well and have a great time taking photos!

All the best, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 14:09, 20 May 2026 (UTC)

--WikiMichi (talk) 22:07, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
