Canvassing ?
Hello dear Charlesjsharp,
I am sorry about your « disapointment » regarding the vote of Didier. I don’t know how is your level in french, but no, « definitely », « objectively » (as they say) there is no canvassing at all in my message to him. After more than 16 years in Commons, do you think that I am stupid enough to « canvass » someone on his public talk page ? And only to one user ? Polite words does not change anything : the accusation is an insult by itself and I feel very upset against Cmao20 and Rhododendrites. Furthermore they continue to accuse me after my withdraw, which is not correct. and third, nobody discuss anymore about the picture, but about an interpretation of my behaviour. - This is all very sad. The users criticising you are well-meaning and I don't think they did insult you. I can see they upset you though and they have apologised. The main issue is that, according to Commons:Canvassing, you were actually canvassing. I hadn't understood the Commons definition either. I guess Didier didn't either or he would not have voted on the other nomination. We live and learn. The debate on AI tools has a long way to go and, for us photographers, is going to make judgments even more difficult in the future. - OK I think I understand what you say (not sure though), but I continue to strongly disagree, even after reading Commons:Canvassing (which is not a rule, by the way), as I never asked for a vote, only for an opinion about a situation. I think the current case has nothing to do with this Commons recommendation. I asked Didier to answer TO ME and not on the candidate file page. I don’t think I receive any apologies. Speaking of « canvassing », what do you think about the series of votes by almost unknown reviewers, coming suddenly to FPC from another planet ? More than Didier, they did not vote on any other picture, they only came on my nomination, and they disapeared as quickly as they came. And about difficult judgments on pictures « in the future », I am afraid you are a little naïve about « the present ». The AI is already here, in Commons.
