Better quality of The Music Man poster
Hello! I uploaded File:The Music Man poster, 1957.jpg which I am pretty confident is PD to replace enwiki's photo and it's not horrific but it is still pretty compressed and has a watermark, both of which I imperfectly have tried to clean up a bit. I am wondering if anyone can find a better scan of the poster? Thanks! DemonDays64 (talk) 02:06, 1 January 2022 (UTC) (please ping on reply)
- @DemonDays64: Hi! I am trying to restore your image using certain techniques, so I have a couple of questions for you:
- Were the lines on the poster originally "broken", or they need to be full?
- Are there any points on the original poster that were lost by the compression?
Answer if you are able, and sorry for any grammar mistakes in questions - english is not my native language.
Finnish Continuation War commemorative medals
I've been working through the Finnish army corps of the en:Continuation War (see e.g. en:Finnish III Corps (Continuation War) and en:Finnish VI Corps (Continuation War)). As far as I can tell, these units did not have dedicated shoulder patches (such as those used by e.g. en:X Corps (United States)) which makes it difficult to find good imagery for the infoboxes. What these corps have, instead, are commemorative crosses such as the Aunuksen risti of the VI Corps (as shown in this CC-BY-ND image) or the Pohjois-Vienan risti of the III Corps (shown in this CC-BY-ND image). Since the no derivatives licenses prevent me from using these otherwise excellent images, I'm asking for help in sourcing Commons-compatible versions. Further non-free references can be browsed on e.g. this website. Thanks, -Ljleppan (talk) 09:17, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

This coming COMICON Toronto; need photographs of Degrassi High guests
Hello! I edit a lot of pages related to the show Degrassi High. A few of the actors could do with better infobox images on their pages, and it happens that three of them are to appear at the upcoming COMICON in Toronto on March 19th; Pat Mastroianni, Stacie Mistysyn and Amanda Stepto. I've been looking for higher quality and updated images for these guys for months, so would somebody on this site who is already going with a camera be able to photograph these guys at the panel? Women engaged in oil wrestling?
Hello, it looks like (Turkish) oil wrestling is also practiced by women, and there are female competitions. To illustrate the fact it would be nice to get an image of female oil wrestlers in the typical outfit. Note: I am not talking about the erotically-inclined showfights showing women in bikinis, or nude women wrestling. I really mean women in the typical combat dresses (which resemble one-piece swimsuits). -Eptalon (talk) 19:45, 20 March 2022 (UTC)

LØREN,Alissic and Drop Dead
Hi everyone. I'm currently working on an article about the South Korean musician LØREN on Wikipedia and I'd like to have some pics of him.
- A pic from the Paris Fashion Week Show 2022
- A pic from one of his songs (Empty Trash, Need or All My Friends Are Turning Blue - I would prefer one from All My Friends Are Turning Blue if it's possible)
- Lastly, one pic of him while he is singing or playing guitar would be really useful.
Also, I'm writing an article about Brazilian musician Alissic. I do not have a specific image to request but any that is recent is OK. A specific one would be if there was a pic of her while she is singing. 3 I think are enough but as many as you can are welcome.
To conclude, for my future project, the logo of the brand Drop Dead and in one picture the symbols of the collections.
To be honest, I would do it on my own but I don't understand all the license things but if I did, I wouldn't have the time to do so. For any questions, you can ask me on my Talk Page on Wikipedia. Or, on my Commons Discussion, but I generally prefer Wikipedia's one because I log in there more often than Commons'. I would like to request an image to be uploaded of model and actor Tanner Novlan. I found that without an image of the actor, his main Wikipedia biography page as well as other articles are severely lacking and do not serve to inform the readers properly on what the content of those pages. An image of the actor would be added to many articles. I wonder if I could get some help in finding an image of the actor that adheres to Wikipedia licensing guidelines and copyright policies? The actor also recently attended the 61st Monte Carlo TV Festival, that occurred this past June, thus I was hoping that an image or a photographer who also attended the event may have uploaded a Creative Commons licensed image. If not from this event, any other image of the actor would be suitable. Thank you so much! — AwardShowFan123 (talk) 21:28, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

- Advanced Bionics Neptune (we have only a pic of one being worn during a marathon, but the device is barely visible)
- Individual photos of pre-Harmony Advanced Bionics processors (such as Platinum, Clarion, Platinum BTE, CII BTE, etc)

Pius said that they were all under the unfree CC BY-NC/ND licenses, but that doesn't appear to be the case as far as I can see. Roman reliefs in the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts
The Budapest Museum of Fine Arts has three pieces of relief sculpture that come from an important Roman monument of the early empire celebrating the Battle of Actium. They were originally part of the collection of the first Duke of Alcala and the other surviving parts of the monument are in Spain (two pieces in Seville and several others in Cordoba). The three pieces in Budapest are this slab and these two smaller fragments. I wonder if there's contributor in Hungary who might be able to visit the museum and get photos of these pieces to upload to the commons. Based on the other images I found online, the caulking iron is the small triangular object inside the box. I'm not trying to be too picky, but the photo is not ideal for illustrating the tool because of the framing/resolution of the caulking iron within the larger scene, and the lack of contrast. 70.172.194.25 22:34, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
- Never mind, there are good photos already: File:Musée d'histoire de Nantes - 497 - Burin à calfater.jpg, File:Kalfateisen.jpg. Although if we wanted to upload yet another, is one (not as distinctly triangular at the tip, but I believe it is the same type of tool). 70.172.194.25 19:47, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

Jesenice (Dugi Rat)
Good evening, I'd like to request a photo of Jesenice in Croatia. It's a quite big tourist resort, but there are absolutely no free domain photos anywhere. It's located in Dugi Rat municipality between Split and Omiš - this area is really poor for any pictures, as you can see in neighboring resorts Dugi Rat and Duće. But they at least have some pictures; Jesenice doesn't have any. Here is the location. I would be really grateful if you had any picture from this area. Moson81 (talk) 17:55, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- I've requested Flickr user Linda 2409, she was really kind and gave me a permission to use this file. Therefore, this file request is solved. Moson81 (talk) 16:45, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

They weren't directly described as anyżki (plural of anyżek), but comparing them with other images from Google I think this photo might be appropriate. Request for Rufa Mae Quinto photo
Good day everyone! I could use some help. I would really like to put a photo of the Filipino actress Rufa Mae Quinto in her main article. I didn't find anything at Wikimedia Commons. I'm starting to improve the article and I'm not really that experienced with all this public domain stuff. Thank you in advance! Loibird90 (talk) 02:27, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Loibird90: There are hardly any photos of this actress on the internet that are under a free licence (not only public domain, but also Creative Commons). I did find one video on YouTube, from which I have uploaded a cropped screenshot here. If you would like to learn more about Commons licensing, have a look here. If you don't like this image, you can always look for some non-free images on Flickr and there ask the author to change the licence - more info here. — Pius (talk) 09:18, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

- It is realistically useful for an educational purpose, as required by our project scope (note that "self-created artwork without obvious educational use" is specifically excluded);
- It does not breach any copyright owned by the rights owner; and

can I speak to the manager haircut
wikt:can I speak to the manager haircut. The description on Wiktionary is "a layered, asymmetrical bob with blond highlights". The closest I could find is File:Short blonde hair with highlights.jpg. This may be adequate for a rough depiction, but if you look up the term on DuckDuckGo or Google, the hairstyle being referred to seems slightly different, but I am far from an expert on hairstyles. If my nitpicky perception is wrong, or if no more precise image can be found, then I'd happily default to that other one since it's pretty close, as I said. 70.172.194.25 21:47, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

conduit bender
wikt:conduit bender. There appear to be two meanings for this, although Wiktionary only has the first currently:
I don't know what if anything the connection between these tools is. Currently, we only have one image with the tag "conduit bender", File:Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant Immobilized Cell Bioreactor Area (12795582483).jpg, which is referring to the second meaning. It's not a bad photo, although the angle and framing may not be ideal for illustrating the concept. We have nothing for the first sense AFAICT. 70.172.194.25 01:59, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Wait, immediately after posting this I realized that in the existing Commons photo there is actually a very long lever, although it's not too prominent due to the perspective (it extends away from the camera). So maybe this is the sense Wiktionary is referencing. Or maybe this is the conduit that is being bent, not a distinct lever. Note that in the operation of the object #1 the conduit is placed similarly: . So, reconsidering, I think Wiktionary's sense is still #1 as that object involves a lever/handle and a conduit, but I could be wrong. 70.172.194.25 02:03, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
- Possible leads (for #1): (seems fine), (shows its use, but one cannot discern the tool itself as well). 70.172.194.25 07:52, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- Actually, we have a couple of photos on Commons showing a conduit bender whether in use or not:

Nonterrible image of a typical playground that is not dead
I was trying to find a playground image for https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:leisure%3Dplayground
I tried scanning Category:Playgrounds for content that is featured/QI/VI and nothing was found.
I tried looking through category manually.
I tried looking at Wikipedia articles.
But everything is failing it at least one way
- dead zombie playground with exactly 0 people using it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Childrens_Game_Park_01621.jpg
- picture is depressingly ugly like https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Spielplatz.jpg
- picture is of very unusual place like https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spielplatz#/media/Datei:Wasserspiele2.jpg
- major quality issues like shadow at https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficheiro:Parquinho_do_Parque_Ipanema,_Ipatinga_MG.JPG
- focus is not on playground like at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playground#/media/File:Playground_in_K%C3%A4pyl%C3%A4_sports_park_in_It%C3%A4-Pasila,_Helsinki,_Finland,_2022_May.jpg
If anyone can actually take photos then their help would be welcomed! Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 06:30, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- I would never use a photo for this purpose in which people are identifiable. The problem with trying to take a "nice" photo of a playground is that the weather should also be reasonably nice - and then playgrounds are usually busy. Playgrounds also come in a wide variety of equipment, sizes and structural condition. The ideal typical playground photo will therefore not exist and you will always have to make some kind of compromise. I do agree with you on one point: the variety of usable photos on this topic is really not pleasing on commons. --Smial (talk) 00:41, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

Some of the articles about footballers have old pictures of them and I request new photos for footballers like Jesus Vallejo, Andriy Lunin, Eder Militao, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by YBE11 (talk • contribs) 08:18, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Ice cube vending machine
I am trying to replace https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Jt_vending_ice_cubes.jpg - has anyone got chance to take photo of an ice cube vending machine? Or can find one on Commons/Flickr with matching license? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 18:13, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ice_Machine_in_resort.jpg is not great, but passable and works. Thanks! Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 11:08, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
Images from a 1878 magazine titled "St. Nicholas" for article "The King of Love"
Is it possible to scan only the images from a magazine named "St. Nicholas", dated 1878? I just need the images from pages 103-104, as seen in this archive.org link to use on article "The King of Love" (Lu Re d'Amuri), a variant of Cupid and Psyche. Thank you. Short-track speed skating world cups
I would love for someone to cover the w:short-track speed skating world cup in Dresden (Germany) or Dordrecht (Netherlands) in February 2023.
I'm happy to help submit a grant request to Wikimedia to cover travel and housing costs (entrance at the event is usually free, but if not, happy to help with that too), and to sort through the photos before upload or during categorization.
I'm a terrible photographer and it's killing me that most pro skaters are either not illustrated on Wikipedia or illustrated with a blurry smartphone photo taken at an early 2010s competition. I'll go and take my own blurry smartphone photos from the early 2020s if needed, but if anyone has any talent, it would probably be much better

- @Exilexi: have you asked on german wiki or com:forum? with so many german users probably someone good at photographing sports is going.
- i have no talent either XD, and i only have a canon rp + the most basic lens, but if no one else is going i can try my best.--RoyZuo (talk) 12:11, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Request for a couple SVG uploads
Hello,
It would be great if the following SVGs could be uploaded:
- Source to destination File:Wunnamptamoe Sampooaonk, title page, top.svg
- Source to destination File:Wunnamptamoe Sampooaonk, title page, left.svg
I traced them myself based on this public domain source. You can use the license CC0, I renounce any claims to originality or copyright restrictions. 98.170.164.88 20:23, 10 December 2022 (UTC)

Place clearly allowing camping but has no infrastructure whatsoever
Ideal picture would be like https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/File:Camp_site_backcountry.jpg - clearly no infrastructure at all, clear language-independent marker of designated camping site. I am fine if it is just cropping and site has actual infrastructure not visible on photo.
So far https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Refuge_Cove,_Wilsons_Promontory_National_Park_12.jpg was found where this marker is not well-visible (previous search attempt was on and as of now better one was not found)
I would appreciate help if someone can take or find a better image (I tried searching on Flickr but failed to find anything like that)

Muchołapka in Ludwikowice Kłodzkie, Poland
Can someone please take photographs of the Muchołapka in Ludwikowice Kłodzkie? Such a picture would be very useful for the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwikowice_K%C5%82odzkie and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Glocke_(conspiracy_theory) . 2003:DF:1F2F:7250:2449:83C:207:6280 18:12, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- It does not deserve to be put into https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwikowice_K%C5%82odzkie (some blabbering about secret antigravity research? Seriously?) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:10, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

Cooling center
I want to request an image of a Cooling center, a refuge where people temporarily deal with the health effects of a heat wave. Cheers, Cbrescia (talk) 15:29, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Cbrescia: It seems as if the main responsibility for cooling centers, at least in Los Angeles, falls to public libraries. Would the generic images of their inside public space such as this one or that one perhaps be suitable? Felix QW (talk) 10:50, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Felix QW: Thanks for your reply and suggestions. I saw that you already added one of the images to the article in the English Wikipedia. By the way and for your consideration, I nominated the Cooling center entry for Translation of the week in Meta as the article right now is only in three languages (English, Arabic and Japanese). I believe it will be nice to have it many other languages. Cheers, --Cbrescia (talk) 17:45, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying here! I would normally have left it to you to add, but since you had been waiting here for 9 months without a reply, I figured that one cold winter later you must have long forgotten about cooling centers (as an aside, the current Enwiki page is quite North America focused, so I am unsure it is an ideal candidate for general translation efforts). But the best of success with it nonetheless! Felix QW (talk) 17:56, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Map of the insurgency in Peru (2001-present)
Someone could make an svg map about the armed insurgency in the Vraem (central Peru), in the heart of Peru, in the style of the svg maps that exist about other conflicts in the style of the civil war in Syria, the war in Afghanistan or the South Sudan war using the NordNordWest program.
