File issue notice

Hey @Askeuhd, your image, specifically the image File:ISS020-E-12924 - View of Earth.jpg, has errors—specifically the altitude not being a unit-number (|altitude=18Wide character in print at E:\web\wwwroot\Search) and the camera location being invalid (invalid location notice, defaults to null island). Hello Benedictus1858 - the file was copyrighted and not freely licensed in a manner compatible with Wikimedia Commons. When you uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons you declared it to be compatible with licenses accepted Commons. The licenses on Commons are very broad, and the files on Commons can be used for almost any purpose, which is why this distinction in so important. I stand by my determination of this file - however you may be able to upload your file directly to Wikipedia under the fair use doctrine, instead of uploading it to Wikimedia Commons - you can read more about that here: Wikipedia:Non-free content. Deletion requests

Hello, I think I made a mistake. I started deletion requests for many files for the same reason. Should I have used speedy deletion instead? Mathopara (talk) 04:43, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

@Mathopara - do not worry. You are doing great. It is a good idea to use speedy deletion for very obvious cases. This is one of your examples File:Manuel24576850498.jpg. This contributor has only made a single contribution to Commons (uploading this picture) and as you can see here they not many other contributions to any other Wiki project Special:CentralAuth/Jmmartinezo. In such a case there is not really any need for a deletion discussion - it is an obvious case of the F10 criteria at Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion. You should nominate for deletion when the case is not obvious, or you don't know if a speedy criteria is properly met. I hope this helps --Askeuhd (talk) 05:54, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi Askeuhd, thank you for reviewing my upload. I respectfully contest the G10 (advertisement) tag and would appreciate your re-evaluation.

Why this is not promotional:

  • The subject, Mustafa Deniz Yılmaz, is an academic with an established Wikidata entity (created independently in 2019 and now enriched with OpenAlex ID, ORCID, employer, notable works, etc.).
  • Bibliometric notability: h-index 20, i10-index 44, 138 indexed publications, 1,318+ citations independently verified via OpenAlex and Google Scholar.
  • The portrait is intended for use in the biographical Wikipedia article currently in Articles for Creation review under w:en:WP:NACADEMIC criterion 1.
  • I have disclosed paid editing per w:en:WP:PAID on my Wikipedia user talk page.

Action taken:

  • I have simplified the file description to remove any clinic-related context that may have appeared promotional.
  • The description now reads only: "Portrait of Mustafa Deniz Yılmaz, Turkish otolaryngologist."
