I have no problem with this, as i now realize I have not used the correct license and not provided the proper use rationale template for this file: I wanted to know if it was possible that i could re upload the file with the proper licensing and information so i could back my article. Undeletion request...

Hi,

I've prepared an article about Verena Kaspar-Eisert and have it in draft mode. I already had this picture in the draft https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Verena_Kaspar-Eisert,_director_of_the_Heidi_Horten_Collection,_November_2025.jpg but it was deleted meanwhile. If I would publish the article I'd like to incorporate the image as well. Is it possible to undelete the file?

@Sprach s You would need to get permission from the photographer - Commons cannot accept photos unless they are freely licensed Gbawden (talk) 06:35, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

What review is needed?

Good day. I do not understand what sort of review is needed on for example File:US Dept Agriculture FGIS Port of New Orleans, February 2023 - 13.jpg and a number of similar images you moved to "review needed" category. Hi @Infrogmation. I am working through the USDA images to check cat and noticed that the USDA cat was overcrowded (and contained files similar to the check needed cat) so I moved some files into a single location to work through. The file you mentioned shouldn't have been in the USDA cat as it already has a number of categories. Hope this makes sense Gbawden (talk) 07:01, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2025 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the twentieth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favourite images featured on Commons during the last year (2025) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just five images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 18 April 2026, 23:59:59 UTC.
