Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Hiện nay mình đã tạo trang Users in Vietnam để tạo trang user cho từng cá nhân có quốc kỳ Việt Nam. Vì mình thấy là trong trang Users in Asia đã có tất cả các nước, ngoại trừ Việt Nam. Bạn có thể thêm Việt Nam vào phần Babel trên trang user của bạn. @Tspvn: Bạn nên để cho các bảo quản viên Commons xem xét chứ không nên tự ý xóa biển cảnh báo vi phạm bản quyền đi. Về hình, tôi thấy nó xuất hiện tại khá nhiều website và không có vẻ gì trang web của bạn là bên tạo ra nó đầu tiên (chất lượng hình và độ phân giải tại trang web của bạn cũng kém hơn so với trang này). Tôi chỉ đặt ra vấn đề, còn quyết định giữ hay xóa hình là tùy thuộc vào bảo quản viên của Commons sau khi họ đã xem xét kỹ. --minhhuy ^(talk) 15:30, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Ảnh giáo phận

Nhờ bạn giúp mình việc này. Mình dùng 3 ảnh từ website Giáo phận Hưng Hóa và tải lên Commons vì mình nghĩ là thành viên ThiênĐế đã xin giấy phép được dùng tất cả hình ảnh từ trang này. Nhưng bây giờ mình được thông báo là ảnh có thể bị xóa. Vậy mình cần làm gì thêm để giữ lại những hình ảnh này? Cảm ơn bạn. Greenknight dv (talk) 01:01, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

@Greenknight dv: Thẻ chứng OTRS không thể thay thế cho giấy phép của hình, một số hình bạn tải bị thiếu giấy phép phù hợp. Ngoài ra thẻ chứng OTRS chỉ nên thêm vào bởi tình nguyện viên OTRS, còn người tải lên nên dùng {{OTRS pending}} và thêm tham số là liên kết đến mã số thẻ OTRS tương ứng. Tôi đã sửa lại trang mô tả hình một cách phù hợp hơn. Thân ái. --minhhuy ^(talk) 04:39, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Vietnamese provincial emblems

It's probably better to start regular deletion requests (DR's) so these files could be better Undeleted in the future at the date that their design enter the public domain so they could be used in the future. After adding them to "Undelete in 20XX" you could concert it into a speedy tag, although I'm not sure if it's wise to speedy delete such widely used files that have been here for years as those usually go through DR's specifically so people can add them to "Undelete in 20XX" categories. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 06:39, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

It's better to tag logos with deletion requests as then they could be Undeleted 71 (seventy-one) years after their creation if they're considered collective works. You could always convert it to a speedy deletion afterwards, though as these are locally used at Wikipedia's it might be wise to first upload these to the Vietnamese-language Wikipedia yourself or give others the time to do so.

Furthermore, it's highly likely that by that time no copies of such logos are readily available online, many things that were just "common and daily things" 70 (seventy) years ago are completely unfindable online because nobody managed to document it and put it online, because a lot of those logos are already deleted I can't tag them as "Undelete in 20XX", Wikimedia Commons doesn't only exist for the people that use it today, people in the future can also use educational material. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 19:02, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
