If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Thanks for uploading File:Gerardo-dottori.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.
Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

File:Revue culturelle Platero.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.
Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

As the title says. I uploaded it as File:Äynu vowel chart.svg. If you want, you can replace the png version on your user page, as the SVG version is, naturally, of superior quality. But, of course, it's up to you. Mr KEBAB (talk) 13:04, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

Due to a mishap it was possible for a while to upload .mp4 files. You have uploaded one or more .mp4 files in that period. Please go to Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:MP4 files to see all files that are affected. If the video(s) are entirely your own work or properly licensed you can re-upload them with video2commons.

Hi, do not empty information fields. If you think there is a copyright problem, nominate for deletion instead. If you have a better content, fix it. But never empty those fields. Jcb (talk) 21:49, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Why is it better to put a random information instead of none? It is not a copyright problem: it is just not the right information, as you know. --Daehan (talk) 21:58, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Because you are polluting an already heavily backlogged maintenance category with a file that has no problem. Jcb (talk) 22:55, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Jcb, the file does have a problem: the source hasn't been specified, and it should be. You think about the maintenance, not about what maintenance is for, as always... --Daehan (talk) 08:17, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2018 is open!
Dear Daehan,
You are receiving this message because we noticed that you voted in R1 of the 2018 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in the second round. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2018) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked.
In the final (and current) round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2018.

Hi! I noticed that you uploaded some files from uk.wiki. Do you know FileImporter? Its a super easy way to move files to Commons. --MGA73 (talk) 17:07, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your message: I was looking for some easier way, indeed. I tried CommonsHelper, but it seems to not be working anymore.
Can you tell me more about FileImporter, please? --Daehan (talk) 17:25, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Sure! If you are an autoconfirmed user on a wiki then just go to the file you want to transfer. Then on the top there should be a tab saying "Export to Wikimedia Commons" (or something like that). Just click that and ok. Then the file has been transferred to Commons and you can add categories and fix whatever needs to be fixed.
I hope that can help you. You are always welcome to ask me if you need help. If you are not autoconfirmed you can sometimes cheat a bit by editing some pages. If you can't find any articles to fix then you can always edit your own userpage or talk page or the sandbox.:) --MGA73 (talk) 17:32, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Haha, I loved the last part of your message :D Indeed, I am not autoconfirmed on the wp:uk, but I'll keep your idea in mind:) --Daehan (talk) 22:04, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
:D Yeah and you could also go to a random file on en.wiki (or other wiki where you are autoconfirmed) and click FileImporter link (don't hit ok). Then change the url to uk.wiki and the name of the file you want to transfer. That should also work.
Hello again! I noticed this File:Krushelnycki.jpg. It has both PD-self and File:Krushelnycki.jpg. If the file was taken in the 1930 then I doubt it is PD-self because that would make the photographer about 110 years old. And the photographer could not have died more than 100 years ago because it is only about 90 years since the photo was taken. As far as I can see the photographer is not mentioned so how do we know when he or she died? --MGA73 (talk) 22:26, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
Hello MGA73, indeed, it seems to come from a book published in 2001.
Hello MSha, you uploaded this picture in the Ukrainian Wikipedia. My did you apply a PD-self licence? --Daehan (talk) 00:52, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Catégorie en double?
Bonjour,

About this edit you made, I need to clarity some points to you: 1) The source is correct so I took the image from that website, so please don't remove that information from the infobox again. 2) After downloading the image, I retouched it to make a clearer image with more details. 3) BTW, I added the {{Retouched picture}} tag to the image (which I had ommited).
Fma12 (talk) 10:04, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Painel Ameno Resedá (cropped).jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.
Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
I don't understand this procedure. The explanation is in the description (in portuguese). It comes from the original file, which conservation is not challenged... Daehan (talk) 21:29, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
If you create a derivative work, you do not become the author of the original one and do not have the right to change its licensing status. Quick1984 (talk) 05:28, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
@Quick1984 and @NBS, can you answer my previous question, please? Daehan (talk) 09:45, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
I've already fixed the description, please check it. Quick1984 (talk) 11:59, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
OK thanks.
I think that all the information was there, but not correctly indicated, so this could be done from the start, instead of suggesting a quick deletion, and so on...
But ok, glad all is properly done, now. Daehan (talk) 13:12, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!
2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.
Dear Wikimedian,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Hello Daehan, noticing your edit I was wondering, which Denali this is. I reverted it, prior to looking to the file history and now you made me curious. Thank you so much for your time. Lotje (talk) 14:08, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi @Lotje, you're most certainly right. I can't find the reason why I put back the category... Daehan (talk) 14:23, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
In all honesty, I doubt it. Lotje (talk) 15:22, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
@Lotje, sorry I meant the Denali National Park (not Denali Borough), as you point it out.
This picture doesn't look like it: it looks like a tropical seashore.
But his Panoramio gallery is all about the Denali National Park: we can find the same flowers pictures in his gallery and the Commons category (scroll down, in the middle), in addition to my example above.
To me, this is well and truly the Denali National Park, but we might also delete it, if there is still a doubt, because we won't get additional information and the quality itself is not good. Daehan (talk) 16:30, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
I would add it to the Category:Denali National Park and also {{Check categories|year=2025|month=January|day=21}} template. Lotje (talk) 17:04, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
@Lotje OK for me. Daehan (talk) 19:40, 21 January 2025 (UTC)

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!
Hi everyone,
Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.
Here are your top three winning images:
First place: The aftermath of an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City on October 9, 2023, leaving widespread destruction in the Rimal area. Attribution: WAFA (Q2915969) / CC-BY-SA 3.0
Second place: Baby cape fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus) sleeping at Cape cross, Namibia. Attribution: Giles Laurent / CC-BY-SA 4.0
Third place: A gigantic jet photographed from the International Space Station by astronaut Nichole Ayers. Attribution: public domain
You can view the full results and see where all your favorite images placed here: Full 2025 Results
I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
