Kategorier

Tak for dit hurtige svar.

Hjart (talk) 08:45, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Indianertosset (talk) 13:16, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

File:Artist Charles Trimble - Dancer (1967).png

More information please - That the work appears in a US govt publication, does not necesarily mean the artwork show is under a PD-USgov license. Do you have more details on the artwork and artist? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 08:54, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for your interest. I have the information about Charles Trimble from the source written, Amiotte, Arthur: Art and Indian Children of the Dakotas. Book five. Office of Educational Services. U.S. Dept. of the Interior. Aberdeen. copied from govinfo.gov. Information given in connection to the dokument: Use: Unrestricted. The paintings are printed in the book with permission from the owners, so I think they knew the pictures could be used elsewhere. Yours Indianertosset (talk) 09:07, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Yes, that gave permission for that printing specifically, I am not sure it re-licensed the images a work of US government, especially if they had been exhibited prior to the publication. You may wish to clarify with others at Village pump. At minimum should add the authors lifetime to the file descripton of check if there was "Creator" tag for them on Commons. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 09:13, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the information. I can see you know more about this than I do. Other U.S. documents with photographs have sometimes a text in connection with the document - Use: Possible restricted; so I thought it was all right to use the photographs from this school book for pupils. The owners - like Smithsonian Institution - of the paintings knew which puplication the picture of the painting would be printed in, when they gave the permission, so they knew it would be a Government Printing Office publication. Thats my reasoning. Yours Indianertosset (talk) 09:29, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
You may wish to check with the owners as to the status. I'm not from the US, Here when the Government 'comissions' a work or takes ownership, the copyright doesn't become a 'govt' copyright, it remains with the artist. With PD-US Gov, it's generally only works directly be Federal employees, in furtherance of their employment that counts for the license here. Commissioned works undertaken by external artists, grant recipients and so forth are not counted as Federal Employees. That's why you were queried. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 10:20, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Hi. I have changed the license on the uploaded files after a discussion on Village Pump. Hope it has settled the question. Yours Indianertosset (talk) 08:36, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
