File:Luke_Davidson_Rugby_2026.jpg deleted by Turelio because: F1 - please explain

I am an amateur photographer who was asked earlier today if a photo of a player I took on Friday 6th February could be used on a page dedicated to the young rugby player Luke Davidson.

I gave my full permission to the creator of the page but on looking this afternoon it appears you have deleted it for reasons unknown.

Deletion of Guadalcanal Owl

Hi, I had uploaded an image of the Guadalcanal Owl earlier this morning, and I had taken the permission of a user on iNaturalist and asked them to send a confirmation email. Hi, the depicted information-board contains copyrighted graphic and text elements. While in a number of countries, works of art permanently installed in public space, can be legally reproduced (= freedom of panorama), Greece regrettably has no such exception, see Commons:Freedom of panorama/Europe#Greece. So, the permission of all content-contributors to this information-board would be required. If the country associated to the Wikipedia-version where you wanted to use this image, has full Freedom of panorama, you might upload it locally (and mark it "do not transfer to Commons), if permitted. --Túrelio (talk) 07:53, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

Deletion of Category:Images of Split

Hi, you deleted Category:Images of Split. Please, can you undelete it, because I had in mind to adapt it to: Category:Images of Zagreb and Category:Photographs of Zagreb. Thank you for that. So far, I've analyzed a lot and compared three or four German categories and two Croatian ones. I need to take a break to make some things clear to me. Also, to see if a structure of multiple categories can be created, which is what I have noticed in other countries. I had to simplify some things, for example removing municipalities from the categories, because there simply isn't enough material for them, and we don't have districts. Hello. I think I solved the problem, please check. Description: From the very beginning, it bothered me that the categories Cities Photographs and Cities Images are very weakly connected, or rather not at all. But I also noticed at the very beginning that the categories States Photographs and States Images in the German part of Commons, which I consider a model for Counties in hr, are connected differently, simply logically and well. Aufräumen in bei Kulturdenkmalcats

Hallo Túrelio, danke schön, für deine Aufräumaktionen bei den Kulturdenkmalcats. Bei manchen Cats ist das verschieben aber nicht notwendig zum Beispiel bei Cats wie

Die einzelnen objekten haben alle eigenen Eintrag in der de.wp in der de:Liste der Kulturdenkmale in der Löbervorstadt. Mittelfristig bekommen die auch alle einen eigenen Wikidata-Eintrag. Die Thüringer Denkmallisten nutzen eine Vorlage mit Upload-Funktion, diese zieht die entsprechende Commonscat (im idealfall die vom Objekt), dies ist jetzt "nur" die vom Gebäude und nicht die spezifische. zunächst erst einmal ein herzliches Dankeschön für die Mitwirkung an der Wikipedia.
Die Unter-Kategorien zu den einzelnen Denkmalobjekten hab ich ganz bewusst zusammengefasst. Zum einen um die Kategorie-Pfade möglichst "flach" zu halten und zum anderen (das war für mich der primäre Grund der Zusammenführung) die Auflistung analog der "Denkmalliste der Stadt Erfurt (Stand: 04.1.2022)" zu führen. Hier Werden die Denkmalobjekte adressbezogen mit einer zugehörigen Objektbezeichnung (z.B.: "Wohnhaus + Einfriedung") geführt.
Sukzessiv wäre ich auch dafür die Wikipedia-Listen (u.A. de:Liste der Kulturdenkmale in der Löbervorstadt) dahingehend anzupassen.
Beispielhaft hierfür wäre:
Category:Gustav-Freytag-Straße 6 (Erfurt)
Hier hab ich schon mal die Wikimedia-Kategorien zusammengefasst, ein Wikidata-Objekt angelegt und die entsprechende Wikipedia-Liste dahinhigehend überarbeitet und ergänzt.
Was meint ihr dazu? :-)

Is there a way to block an account who uploaded files Intentionaly by fake names such below files and delete all uploads

for examples above files are military bases (see Telecommunications antenna)

none of these files are residential area all are governmental buildings or military bases

A deleted image was replaced by ai-generated one

Hello Túrelio, there is a probably ai-generated image on the page Wikipedia:Charlotte de Robespierre that replaced an older image claiming to be an exact copy, which I find highly suspicious because the old image dated back to at least 2015. Since the new image has serious ai-generated artifacts, can you restore the deleted old image? Question regarding deletion of MIRUD performance photographs

Hello,

I am writing regarding several photographs of my performances that were recently deleted from Wikimedia Commons for suspected copyright issues.

I am the subject of the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirud_(singer)

I want to clarify that these images are owned by me. The photographs were created by my own team for official promotional and performance use.

The external website referenced in the deletion notice appears to have republished those images after sourcing them from my social media and promotional materials. Their publication of the photos does not make them the copyright holder.

To resolve this properly, I have already contacted the Wikimedia permissions team to formally confirm copyright ownership and provide the required licensing verification.

I wanted to clarify this directly and ask if there is anything further required from my side to help restore the files once verification is completed.

The Wikimedia Commons permissions team has now reviewed and verified the photographs, and the permission has been added to the file pages.

Question about deleted files

Hi @Túrelio, could you please clarify why the files (File:Binz Da Poet.png, File:Trường Giang.png, File:Tiến Luật.png, File:Hứa Minh Đạt.png) were deleted? These images are screenshots from videos explicitly licensed under Creative Commons. I would appreciate it if you could double-check them. Gelöschte Datei als Quelle angegeben

Hallo, Du hattest 2011 die Datei HoCMT.jpg gelöscht. Sie ist aber in HoCMT.png als Quelle angegeben (was also immerhin 15 Jahre nicht aufgefallen ist). Meiner Ansicht nach müsstest Du daher die JPG-Datei wiederherstellen – gern mit Einfügung von {{Superseded}} (Update:) {{Superseded by PNG}}, was ich aber auch selbst übernehmen könnte – oder die in der gelöschten Datei genannte Quelle in die Beschreibung der PNG-Datei übertragen. Das separate Problem, dass die Versionen der PNG-Datei aufgespaltet gehören, werde ich anschließend noch angehen durch Antrag in COM:SPLIT. — Speravir – 02:03, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Andererseits: Die eigentliche Quelle war als Beschreibung angegeben, was mir so deutlich erst klar wurde, als ich die Beschreibung der JPG-Datei sah (irgendwie hatte ich etwas anderes erwartet). Man könnte also in HoCMT.png problemlos den Verweis auf HoCMT.jpg entfernen und die JPG-Version wieder löschen. — Speravir – 23:51, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

Добрый день. Вы недавно удалили файл File:Plan-razvitia-metro-1990-god.jpg по причине "© ЛенНИПИгенплана, 1990". ЛенНИПИгенплана был ликвидирован в 1994 г. (см. Распоряжение КУГИ Санкт-Петербурга от 26 октября 1994 г. № 859-р.) и копирайт никому не принадлежит. Кроме этого, эта карта была переработана мною, т.е. он прошел графическую мастерскую (но у все равно него копирайта), такие файлы можно размещать. Вы бы не могли отменить Ваше решение об удалении? Duplikatenprozess?

Ich hätte hier eine Frage an dich. Du machst ja viel in dieser Wartungskategorie und ich frage mich gerade ob deswegen deine BEO monströss ist. Kurz: Ich habe irgendwann mal festegestellt, wenn ich ein Duplikat lösche, dass dann die neue WL unter meiner BEO-Liste ist, was ich aber nicht möchte. Ich klicke dann für gewöhnlich die neue WL an und lösche sie dann wieder von meiner BEO, doch manchmal vergesse ich es. Machst du das gleiche, oder aber lässt sich das irgendwie abstellen? Gibt's da was in den Einstellungen, ein Punkt den ich bisher nicht fand? Beim Filemoven wird die neu entstandene WL ja auch nicht in die BEO gepackt. Würde ein paar Extra-Klicks ersparen. Hallo Ziv, die automat. Übernahme auf die eigene Beo wurde irgendwann mal klammheimlich eingeführt. Da ich rel. viele Duplikate bearbeite, sammeln sich bei mir schnell einige Hunderte an. Ich lösche die meist nicht sofort, sondern warte bis genug zusammen gekommen sind, und lösche sie dann in cumulo. Leider wurde ganz kürzlich auch die Bearbeitung der eigenen Beo, wiederum klammheimlich, verändert und m.E. deutlich umständlicher gemacht, mehr Klicks für dasselbe Ergebnis. Ich habe gerade mal probeweise das Häkchen an "Versuche ... zu ersetzen" im Duplikat-Baustein (beim letzten Schritt) entfernt, was aber nichts gebracht hat. Trotzdem auf der Beo gelandet. Also, nein, ich habe keinen Geheimkniff um diesen Unsinn zu verhindern. Vielleicht sollten wir mal User:Raymond darauf ansprechen, da er einen Draht zu den Programmierern hat. --Túrelio (talk) 10:13, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
Die gleiche Idee hatte ich auch schon mal. Sie führte aber bloss dazu das zusätzlich ein Befehl an CommonsDelinker erstellt wurde. Unnötig wenn es nichts zu ersetzen gibt oder man es gleich bei wenigen Einbindungen in den Sprachversionen selbst erledigen kann. Hallo @Ziv und @Túrelio. Beim Erstellen einer Seite, egal welchen Typs, wird die Seite auf die Beo genommen, wenn in den persönlichen Einstellungen ein Haken bei "Selbst erstellte Seiten und hochgeladene Dateien automatisch beobachten" gesetzt ist. Es gibt noch ein paar mehr Optionen, aber keine, die sich auf WLs bezieht. Aber ich denke, soweit wisst ihr das selber schon. Für den Wunsch, dass es für die Erstellung von WLs eine separate Option gibt, wurde vor Jaaaaahren bereits der Task 26365 erstellt. Ich will euch da aber leider auch großen Hoffnungen machen, dass dieser Wunsch bald erfüllt wird.
Ansonsten: Um Überraschungen bei Änderungen an der Software zu minimieren, lohnt es sich, die Seite WP:Neuheiten auf Beobachtung zu haben. Nicht immer zu 100 % aktuell, manches läuft bei mir und anderen an der Software interessierten Kolleg*innen auch unter dem Radar vorbei. Raymond (talk) 10:51, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

Hi James Kevin McMahon, I assume you refer to File:Glenn McQuaid at DIFF 2026.jpg. While I am surely not flawless, the source-video That's A Wrap! Looking back on DIFF 2026 is definitively not under a compatible CC license. Youtube videos under a CC license usually show that license in the fold-out area (click on: More ..) below the video-frame, which is not the case here. I got the same barnstar for tagging the file.
What James appears to be getting at is that when you search with the "Creative Commons" filter enabled the video shows up in the results. Which is very strange indeed. My best guess (speculation) is that YT maybe hides the free license because it detected a song? But they forgot to exclude it from the filtered search results. Guess I found a bug in YT. If the YT review bot was still around it would reject this, I'm not sure how license reviewers deal with this.
I hadn't noticed myself, but James pointed out they spent 4 hours to extract and upload two dozen screenshots from the same video. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 14:35, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

Der OTRS-Kollege User:Mussklprozz hatte zunächst das als gültig angesehene Ticket (2026020410005257) hinzugefügt und die CC-Lizenz belassen, 2 Tage später aber ersetzt durch {{Copyvio|Error about copyright on the side of the supplier. [[Ticket:2026020610004281]] }}. Diesen SLA habe ich dann ausgeführt. Do you mind if I recreate a category you deleted?

Hi, you deleted a category here and I would like to recreate it as a redirect because it is the former name of the station, people might still search for it under the old name, and some of the old photos in that category still show station signs with the old name (like File:Платформа 68 км.jpg where you can see "68 км" on the sign on the left side of the photo). I am writing to request the restoration of the file File:Logo Vattetot-sur-Mer.png, which was recently deleted due to concerns regarding the threshold of originality.

Under French copyright law, a work is only protected if it reflects the “personal imprint of its creator”. However, this logo consists solely of simple geometric shapes, namely a stylized building, a simple bird, and waves.

All of these elements are easily reproducible and do not exhibit sufficient creative individuality. Moreover, the motif is generic and is used in a similar way by numerous French municipalities, such as Larmor-Plage, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, Sanary-sur-Mer, L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer, and Piriac-sur-Mer.

Since the design consists only of standard symbols and does not reach the required level of creativity for copyright protection, it does not, in this legal assessment, meet the threshold of originality.

Hello and greetings. I noticed the deletion of File:Roberto Sánchez in 2026 JNE Debate.png file. I’d like you to explain why it was taggeed as “license washing” and elimited. Since I see that you have a basic level of Spanish and I'm the uploader of this picture, I’ll tell you that the image isn’t a screenshot from JNE per se or an external source.

The picture is created from a journalist from La Encerrona (see table and full video) who was accredited by Marco Sifuentes after the presidential debate, the person from this screenshot talked about Marco Sifuentes' invitation. The journalist was in an area where presidential candidates are usually interviewed after the presidential debate, which is proof of that. I'm sure La Encerrona’s license covers that video clip that she recorded, considering that this video clip is created by the journalist from/for La Encerrona. Their rationale might be either the statement "Videorecording by Kimberly Mendoza" or the fact that the video on YT is not under a free license. Hi Túrelio, OptimusPrimeBot tagged c:File:United Kingdom-Army-OR-5.svg as a duplicate of c:File:British Army (1920–1953), OR-4.svg, but this has been reverted as an error. I can confirm that it is indeed a duplicate and should be redirected. I believe it was flagged as an error on account of having a different time period in the file name compared to the other file (1920–1953 vs 2023).
