Plz help with File:Ruling Alliances in India.svg
Hi @Sbb1413, I came here from File:State- and union territory-level parties.svg. Can you plz help with updating File:Ruling Alliances in India.svg. You may take reference from either your file or File:Ruling Alliances in India.jpg for ease. I tried d doing it myself once and messed up badly. I am not good with this SVG somehow. Thank you. - @Shaan Sengupta:
Done. Thank you. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs • uploads) 17:23, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Sbb1413 thanks. You might wanna remove the yellow box from the legend, or maybe use yellow instead of red. Bcoz both AAP & ZPM use yellow color (AAP uses blue alongside yellow, so only yellow can be ok). Also in Tamil Nadu, TVK is now aligned with INC, and can be considered part of I.N.D.I.A. Even the enwiki article now lists them a part of the bloc. Shaan SenguptaTalk 17:26, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for update. I'm updating it accordingly. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs • uploads) 17:32, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi you doing? Or is there any update that I have missed? Shaan SenguptaTalk 06:10, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Shaan Sengupta:
Done. It took me a while as I accidentally deleted my locally downloaded SVG file after updating it, and I could not download the updated SVG until a day later. So it took time, but I updated it as per enwiki. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs • uploads) 16:35, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

South Coast Railway Zone
The South Coast Railway zone (SCoR) will begin its operations from 1 June 2026. Can you create and add the logo similar to other zones. Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 06:13, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Can you create a new zonal map, as the exisiting map ] is outdated. Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 06:17, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Will try to update the map once SCoR begins its operations. I will also perform other updates by then. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs • uploads) 07:21, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Jayanthkumar123: I have created two possible logos of SCoR, and a new SVG map for IR zones.
- Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs • uploads) 08:48, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks for creating these images. I would suggest if you could add the zonal abbrevations (like WR, SCR, SR, etc) in the map itself. This would make the map easier to read and understand. Also, there's an update to the Indian Railways logo (). Until now the logo had 17 stars and from 1 June 2026 the new logo with 18 stars will come into effective. Can you also update that logo as well. See here about the new logo update () Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 18:32, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
re: caste
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caste
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/caste
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/casta
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:EntityPage/Q484416
there is a SUB-CATEGORY for caste in india, & a new sub-category for caste in the indian subcontinental region.
please stop treating the GENERAL category for castes as if it only applies to one culture.
Lx 121 (talk) 12:37, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
AND wikipedia, wikidate, etc. ALSO clearly differentiate & have SEPARATE ARTICLES for caste in the context of the cultures of the indan subcontinental region. Lx 121 (talk) 14:08, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- It's not me, but the Wikipedia article uses the term largely for one culture, while leaving the "Latin America" section for the other one. Thankfully, the articles Caste and Casta are separate, and so I have created separate categories for each (Category:Castes and Category:Castas). Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs • uploads) 12:39, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- Look at the English definition of Casta, which says, "A hierarchical system of race classification created by Spanish elites in Hispanic America during the eighteenth century." Nowhere it says "caste". The Wikidata item might be broad, but the Commons category is narrow. Unless you start a COM:CFD on Category:Castes and build a consensus, I can't do anything but maintain the status quo. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs • uploads) 12:45, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- & if you do it 1 more time, that is 3r. (also the enlish word COMES FROM the spanish/portugese word. its application to the cultures of the India region came AFER the term was ALREADY established. there are OTHER TERMS for the practice, in the various languages of India, going back to Sanskrit... with all due respect, i think that you are letting your personal cultural biases shape your understand of the "right way" to use a term that is NOT specific to only the practices of one culture. Lx 121 (talk) 14:08, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Sbb1413: en-wiki entitles an article casta because it chooses to frame it as an article about the Spanish-language word. You will notice that in that article where the article refers to the concept rather than the word, it often uses the English-language caste. In that article, there doesn't seem to have been any consistent decision among multiple editors as to which of the two to use in contexts where it isn't being used as a literal. Casta doesn't normally exist as a native English-language word, and I say that as an English-speaker with near-fluent Spanish. - Jmabel ! talk 13:10, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
Vertical deflection devices
Please stop moving categories from "Speed bumps"/"Speed humps" etc. to "vertical deflection devices". This requires a discussion if this is to be done. Note that the common useage in English is "speed bump"; Vertical deflection traffic calming device on English Wikipedia redirects to Speed bump.. I've reverted the move of the U.S. category; if you could move the others back pending a full discussion, that would be great. Thanks! - The Bushranger (talk) 04:41, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
