Drawn reproduction

Hi, A drawn reproduction may have its separate copyright. At least there is no consensus about that. Yann (talk) 22:53, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Unknown author

We need to insist that the author must be known for a recent work. Many people upload recent works with "Author = unknown". Yann (talk) 22:53, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Issue isn't "recent" but "copyrighted", I presume. We don't need an author for a U.S. government work, or something below TOO. - Jmabel ! talk 02:14, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
There is still an author, and it is "U.S. government". Idem for simple logos, there is still an author, even if it has no implication to their copyright status. Yann (talk) 09:00, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
If U.S. gov't is acceptable as "author", sure.
But a sub-TOO logo is quite possibly not authored by the entity for which it is a logo. It is likely the work of a graphic designer. Since there is no copyright, it is not relevant who is the author, and there would have been no copyright to transfer to the company. - Jmabel ! talk 18:22, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Unclear instructions

I noticed in the statement “If you are asking a Flickr user to license a photo, it is a lot easier to ask them to make it CC-BY 2.0 than CC-BY 2.0.” that both sides of the “than” statement are identical. I also noted a typo that could be fixed at the same time: search for “ to to” (note the leading blank). Neptune919 (talk) 17:24, 30 August 2025 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll fix these, and also Flickr is now up to 4.0.- Jmabel ! talk 23:33, 30 August 2025 (UTC)

Mark for translation?

COM:THIRD gets mentioned a lot in the help desk, so it would be very much appreciated if it had translations. HyperAnd [talk] 09:56, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

 Support I'd welcome that. - Jmabel ! talk 18:27, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Title in simpler language

i think for non native speakers "uploading other people's works" will be simpler, more straightforward and better understood than "works by a third party". RoyZuo (talk) 10:19, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

The problem is that the third party can be an organization, government, etc., not just a person. - Jmabel ! talk 19:06, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
all works are created by someone. an organisation's work is still created by people. 🤷‍♀️ RoyZuo (talk) 10:42, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Yes, but what matters is who is the copyright holder. Yann (talk) 19:11, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Redirects can be created. Yann (talk) 09:51, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
