Walter Lewisohn
You are right about Walter Lewisohn, it looks like the middle name was a retronym based on his son "Walter Pickett Lewisohn" and the dad listed as "Walter Lewisohn, Sr." "Pickett" still appears in some of the other language Wikidata entries, and should be removed. I contacted the guy at Findagrave that most likely started the problem. Good catch. RAN (talk) 04:36, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ): Thanks. I've made corrections on Wikidata. Find a Grave is notoriously unreliable; I hesitate to use it for sourcing biographic info unless credible other sources corroborate or there is an actual grave stone photo supporting the purported name and dates (and even then there are typos and transcription errors: e.g. "1898" as carved becomes "1893" because maybe some lichen obscures the inscription, or plain old human error). --Animalparty (talk) 20:27, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- The Findagrave guy agreed and changed the name there too.Familysearch is good, because it has the actual census, birth, marriage, and death records, as well as other scanned legal documents. The organization Reclaim The Records has done an amazing job, forcing cites, counties, and states to release birth, marriage, and death records that are in the public domain. --RAN (talk) 20:36, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
Jest for a While
Hi! I uploaded this video of a Vitaphone Varieties short that stars Clara Barry and Orville Whitledge. Seeing as you made both of their category pages I thought you'd like to see the video. SDudley (talk) 21:35, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
