Thanks for uploading File:Logo of Corfu (white lines, blue ship).png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Logo of Corfu (white lines, blue ship).png]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

File:21st of May Parade in Corfu.jpg

Pay attention to copyright
File:21st of May Parade in Corfu.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Hi! It has come to my attention that you have removed a warning which says that a file doesn't have enough information about the source or license conditions. Nevertheless, it seems to me that this information is still missing and I have restored the tag. You may either add the required information or, if you think that required information is already given, put the image up for a deletion request so that it won't automatically be deleted. Thank you.

like here.--Yann (talk) 08:38, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello Gkaridis0.

You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful.

This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions.

--Yann (talk) 08:41, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello Yann. Regarding the warning, I want to clarify that these are false allegations.
For every single file I uploaded, I have explicitly provided the correct author, the correct source, and the correct copyright tag. It is deeply unfair to have my own original work targeted and deleted just because I had uploaded copyrighted material in the past when I was inexperienced. All those past files have already been deleted, and I have since complied with the rules.
I removed the deletion templates because there was no actual review; the notices simply stated the files would be automatically deleted after 7 days. I tried to find another solution to prevent this unjust deletion but couldn't.
Regarding Εὐθυμένης, who placed these mass tags: if you check their talk page, you will see they do not reply to anyone. They have ignored me in the past, so I did not even bother messaging them this time.
This behavior discourages users and makes Commons a hostile environment. I am taking this matter very seriously and intend to report the lack of proper background checks. Due to this treatment, I have decided to leave Wikimedia permanently.

Hi, You obviously do not understand how copyright works. Εὐθυμένης was absolutely right to tag your files. Making unfounded accusations won't help your case. So you won't be unblocked. Please read COM:L. Thanks, Yann (talk) 17:50, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
Hello Yann. Your dismissive response continues the hostile behavior I mentioned earlier. I fully understand copyright rules (COM:L) and I have applied them correctly. Simply saying "you don't understand" is not a valid argument. I request that you provide a specific explanation for every single file stating exactly what you claim is wrong with them. I have provided correct sources and licenses. If you believe there are errors, point them out specifically for each file instead of making blanket accusations.

Appeal regarding procedural errors and unjustified block - User:Gkaridis0

Involved people

I am bringing this matter to the board because I believe there has been a significant procedural oversight and an unjustified use of administrative tools.

While my initial contributions during my learning phase included files that did not meet copyright standards, those have been removed, and I have since made a concerted effort to follow COM:L. It is important to note that even the most experienced contributors have faced similar learning curves. For instance:

These examples illustrate that navigating complex copyright rules is a process where mistakes can happen even to dedicated users.

Failure to Provide Specific Feedback: A major issue in this dispute is the lack of specific communication from Εὐθυμένης. According to Commons guidelines, when tagging files, the uploader should be notified with specific instructions (e.g., using subst:image permission). Instead, Εὐθυμένης performed a mass-tagging without providing any individual explanation or guidance on what was allegedly missing. This "blanket tagging" makes it impossible for a user to address concerns, especially when the tags themselves are demonstrably incorrect.

Evidence of Incorrect Tagging: A clear example of this indiscriminate action is File:Corfu_Anaktora_View_(St_George_&_Michael_Palace)_20251213.jpg. Despite being tagged for "missing information," the very first version already explicitly included:

  • Source: Own work
  • Author: Gkaridis0

This proves that the files were tagged without a proper background check of the metadata, yet these incorrect reports were used as the basis for my block.

Pattern of Inappropriate Behavior and Disciplinary History by User:Εὐθυμένης

The actions taken against my uploads are part of a documented history of problematic behavior by Εὐθυμένης.

  • History of Misuse: As documented in the Administrators' Noticeboard (Archive 102), multiple admins have criticized Εὐθυμένης for indiscriminate mass-tagging without checking file descriptions. They admitted to making mistakes due to high-speed tagging, which is exactly what occurred with my files.
  • Block History: According to public logs (XTools), Εὐθυμένης has been blocked 4 times in the past (with the longest block lasting 32 days).

This history of disciplinary actions and recognized tagging errors proves that their reports should not be taken at face value without an independent review. In my case, this lack of review led to an unjustified block, as my metadata was correct from the start.

Timeline of my Block (User:Gkaridis0):

  1. I received a "last warning" on 08:41, 5 February 2026 (UTC) stating that a block would follow if I continued to upload infringing material.
  2. I performed no further actions or uploads after this warning.
  3. I was blocked shortly after anyway.

This contradicts the "last warning" protocol, as the block was issued despite my full compliance with the warning's instructions (i.e., not uploading anything further).

The claim that I "do not understand copyright" is a generic dismissal that is disproven by the logs. I request an objective review of this block and a fair evaluation of my recent contributions.

Pattern of Administrative Misconduct by User:Yann

The reactive nature of my block by Yann—issuing a block after a "last warning" despite no further uploads—is consistent with a documented history of administrative misconduct.

  • Administrative Blocks: As seen in the Administrators' Noticeboard archives, Yann has been officially blocked in the past (e.g., by user 1989) for "misuse of sysop tools, performing involved actions, and hostile behavior."
  • Issues with Objectivity: Fellow administrators and contributors have previously raised concerns about Yann's tendency to base admin decisions on personal sentiments and "disrespect for fellow contributors."
  • Procedural Failures: In that archive, it was noted that Yann's actions were "punitive rather than preventive" and lacked "sufficient warning"—exactly the same procedural error I am currently reporting, where I was blocked without a new violation occurring after the final warning.

This suggests that the block against me was not a neutral application of copyright policy, but a subjective decision influenced by a pattern of behavior that has been sanctioned by the community before.

Procedural Requirement: Since this appeal explicitly challenges the actions and conduct of both Yann and Εὐθυμένης, it is a matter of policy that this discussion must be reviewed and closed by an uninvolved, third-party administrator. According to the involved administrators policy, administrators should not use their tools in a dispute where they are a party or where their own conduct is under review. Therefore, I request that User:Yann refrains from closing this appeal to ensure a fair and objective evaluation by an independent party.

Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "Unjustified Βlock Gkaridis0 (talk) 20:40, 5 February 2026 (UTC)"
Decline reason: "You were blocked by Yann for a week for uploading copyvios after warnings. You argue, that you did not upload any copyvios after warning. This is not true. You were warned by 0x0a on 25th of April 2024 here. You removed the warning yourself yesterday here. Without that warning your unblock request would be justified and I would unblock you, but now the block is valid and I decline the request. You said above: "Due to this treatment, I have decided to leave Wikimedia permanently." This is not our intention, that's why your block lasts a week and is not indefinite, but if you cannot resist uploading copyvios, then it would be probably better choice. Taivo (talk) 08:45, 6 February 2026 (UTC)"
Administrators: This template should be removed when the block has expired.

Unblock request declined by User:Taivo (reply)

Hello Taivo,

This request is not just about the block, but about the factually false premise that led to it.

1. The Accusation is Demonstrably False: The block was issued because I supposedly persisted in uploading files without "Source" or "Author". This is objectively untrue.

  • Every single one of my recent uploads explicitly included Source and Author.
  • The mass-tagging performed by User:Εὐθυμένης claimed this information was missing, but the file histories prove it was there from the very first revision.
  • Therefore, labeling these uploads as "copyright violations" or "missing info" is a result of blind tagging, not actual policy violation. You are blocking me for "ignoring warnings" about missing info, when the info was actually present.

2. Procedural Flaw (The 2024 Warning): Regarding your note on the warning from April 25, 2024:

  • That warning is nearly two years old. In any fair administrative process, a warning from 2024 is considered "stale" and cannot justify a summary block in 2026, especially when I complied fully with the *current* warning of Feb 5, 2026.
  • As you admitted: "Without that warning your unblock request would be justified" - Taivo.

Conclusion: The files had the correct data. The "violation" is based on false tagging. The "history" cited is 2 years old. I request that you check the file revisions yourself to verify the metadata was present, and unblock me based on the facts. Gkaridis0 (talk) 23:17, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

You argue, that two years old warning does not count. This claim is false. Warning has no expire date. Although I do not count more than 5 years old warnings with same value as warnings from last week, but maybe half-value, by principle even 10 years old warnings are still warnings. Anyway, 2 years old warnings are quite recent and I count them at full value.
At second you claim, that you did not upload copyright violations at all, because all your uploads had correct author and source. Of course, having correct author and source is essential, but this is not enough. Commons accepts only free media, non-free media is not accepted. Simply uploading them into Commons constitutes copyright violation, irrespective of whether they have correct source and author or not. You uploaded a lot of files from agios-spyridon.com. The webpage has no copyright message and you uploaded the files under CC-zero. This is incorrect. If the page has no copyright message, this means "All rights reserved". It is prohibited to upload such files into Commons and CC-zero was wrong license anyway. You need written permission from agios-spyridon.com to upload its content into Commons. Εὐθυμένης correctly tagged the files not as having incorrect source and author, but as having incorrect permission. Taivo (talk) 09:00, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

Your uploads

Hi, I undeleted your uploads. Could you please add the information provided by Nard: . What is the permission about? I don't think there is really a need for one, so either complete it, or remove it. Thanks, Yann (talk) 11:55, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
