Steward confirmation votes

Hey there, ZI, you put all your steward confirmation votes below the line <section end="comments" />, which means they don't display. I move one or two for you, but not all of them. You may want to go correct the rest. Toadspike [Talk] 09:23, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

@Toadspike, all fixed. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 09:52, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

Wiki loves Ramadan

Hello, hope you are doing well. I wanted to ask if Egypt Wikimedians User Group can participate in Wiki Loves Ramadan with an editathon instead of contest? @ZI Jony Yasmin sheha (talk) 21:07, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

@Yasmin sheha, sure. Please register and implement according to your plan. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 22:01, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for the chat work

It has been a pain to see so little care work done officially by WMF in this direction and admirable to see you took on this yourself. How can we make sure this is sustainable and does not disappear as previous individual efforts were lost? Thanks again! - Zblace (talk) 05:19, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

@Zblace: thank you so much for the kind words! It really means a lot. I noticed the same gap in persistent, modern IRC tooling for our volunteers, which is exactly what motivated me to build and launch this. You are asking the absolute most important question about sustainability.
  • The bouncer and the dashboard are not running on my personal hardware or a private VPS. It is entirely hosted on Wikimedia Cloud Services (WMCS), meaning the infrastructure is tied to the Wikimedia ecosystem, not in my personal capacity.
  • I have written comprehensive public manuals and, more importantly, a detailed technical SOP on Wikitech. If another admin needs to step in, the exact commands, database structures, and troubleshooting steps are already documented.
  • Maintaining an IRC bouncer manually is exhausting. That is why I just deployed the Unified Web Dashboard. By automating account requests, inactivity suspensions, and password resets, the daily maintenance burden is incredibly low.
  • We are using standard, open-source software (The Lounge) for the core IRC client. I have open-sourced the custom Node.js dashboard code under the MIT License, the full source code is hosted on Wikimedia GitLab.
  • Now that the heavy lifting of development is done, my goal is to eventually onboard a few trusted co-maintainers (especially those with WMCS access) to share the admin load.
If you have any ideas on how to further institutionalize it, I am all ears! Feel free to drop by the #wikimedia-loungeconnect IRC channel anytime. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 18:20, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
