I don't think you acted badly by current admin standards, but I do think current admin standards should change, if you see my point. I'm not trying to get you desysoped or anything, just trying to get people to slow down and not hit the block button five minutes after they see something.

When I'm criticising an admin for rushing too quickly to apply an indefinite block, and get hit with someone rushing too quickly to apply an indefinite block, it's... a pattern. Y'know? You deleted this file, but there was no valid reason to do so:

• It’s widely accepted that 18 years old is the threshold for intimate images. It’s a clear threshold; it’s not a grey area. If we start arguing that 18 years old is not OK, we’re going to have massive problems everywhere.
• Whether an image is used is irrelevant, especially when the relevant category (Stretch marks) contains only 32 relevant images (plus three via a subcategory).
• It isn’t clear what COM:PCP is supposed to mean here: there seem to be no suspicious circumstances and no evidence that the file is non-free has been presented.

That was not primarily on the age of the person but on the question whether there was consent to publish this photo. The uploader had one month to react on this but did not. GPSLeo (talk) 12:44, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

Again, there are no suspicious circumstances and no evidence that the file was published without consent. Again, if we start suggesting that evidence is required anyway, we’re going to have massive problems everywhere.

That previous DR was not linked and I could therefore not include in in my decision. But when looking at the photos in that DR in most cases the people were clearly aware of being photographed but here this is not the case. Therefore I precautionary deleted the photo as I see doubts whether there was consent or not. You are of course free to make a formal undeletion request. GPSLeo (talk) 13:02, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. Februar bis zum 31. März 2025 findet zum zweiten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Folklore (kurz: WLF) in Deutschland statt. Mögliche Motive sind gelebte Traditionen wie Feste, Aufführungen, Tänze, Musiktradition, Brauchtum, Spiele, Küche, Tracht, Märchen und Sagen. Viele dieser Kulturgüter sind als Immaterielles Kulturerbe gemäß der UNESCO-Konvention anerkannt. Du hast vergangenes Jahr teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, auch dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Der englische Begriff Folklore umfasst vieles, was man im Deutschen unter Folklore versteht, aber er geht noch weiter. Schau nach gelebten Traditionen und Bräuchen in deiner Nähe.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben Festen sind es Handwerkstraditionen oder Gerichte und Getränke, die auf Fotos von dir warten. Als Orientierung helfen das Bundesweite Verzeichnis des immateriellen Kulturerbes oder Landeslisten wie das Inventar des immateriellen Kulturerbes von Nordrhein-Westfalen oder das Landesverzeichnis Immaterielles Kulturerbe Thüringen. Es fehlen unter anderem Bilder vom Barther Kinderfest, Taubenmarkt in Dermbach, Grasedanz im Harz, Bergsteigen in Sachsen, der Fertigung von Flachglas im Mundblasverfahren, der Fastnacht an der Saar und vom Viezen oder vom Tanz Zwiefacher.

Unter Events haben wir eine kleine Übersicht mit Veranstaltungen in Deutschland, die zum Immateriellen Kulturerbe gehören. Vielleicht findest du dort auch Motive für das nächste Jahr.

Wir vergeben in diesem Jahr drei Sonderpreise für Videos und Audiodateien, da sich viele Traditionen gut im Video oder per Tonaufnahme darstellen lassen.

Als Einstieg für die Suche nach Motiven hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Dort sind die nationalen Listen des immateriellen Kulturerbes aufgeführt.

Damit es ab 1. Februar mit dem Upload schnell geht:

Außerdem laden wir dich ein, vom 15. Februar bis Ende April 2025 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Damit bewertest du die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelst so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die Ende Mai tagen wird, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool ist bald hier freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und Passwort.

I missed your comment about the Taliban and protection of IP rights

I left a note at User talk:Yann. You said "Afghanistan is currently a member of the convention..." But I had asserted I thought that nations had to actually enforce protection for foreigner's IP rights to have the IP rights of their citizen's protected. You didn't address this point. auch in diesem Jahr beginnt am 1. Mai wieder der regionale Wettbewerb von Wiki Loves Earth (WLE) in Deutschland und läuft bis zum 30. Juni. Dabei können wie immer Nationalparks, Naturschutzgebiete, Landschaftsschutzgebiete und Naturdenkmäler oder andere Schutzgebiete fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, auch dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

• Sieger von Wiki Loves Earth 2024 in Deutschland

  Kiefer im Elbsandsteingebirge auf dem Lilienstein

Der Wettbewerb ist zweigeteilt, das heißt, wir unterscheiden zwischen den beiden Wettbewerbskategorien Landschaft und Detail/Makro. Zur Wettbewerbskategorie Landschaft zählen auch geschützte Einzelbäume. In der Wettbewerbskategorie Detail/Makro werden Pflanzen, Tiere und Pilze in den Schutzgebieten bewertet.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben als Naturdenkmal geschützten alten Bäumen oder den großen Nationalparks der Mittelgebirge und am Meer können auch kleine städtische Landschaftsschutzgebiete dokumentiert werden. Zu über 16.000 Naturdenkmalen und mehreren tausend Schutzgebieten haben wir noch keine Fotos. Wo noch Fotos fehlen, kannst du über die Karte oder die umfangreichen Listen in Wikipedia herausfinden.

In diesem Jahr wollen wir auch einen Fokus auf Geotope, wie Findlinge, Quellen oder Aufschlüsse, legen. Hierfür gibt es drei Sonderpreise zum Thema Geodiversität.

Du får det här meddelandet eftersom du tidigare har bidragit med bilder till de svenska deltävlingarna av Wiki Loves Earth eller Wiki Loves Monuments. Jag hoppas att du vill vara med i år också! Som vanligt ingår naturreservat och nationalparker, biosfärområden och naturminnen i tävlingen! Utöver bästa foto belönar vi även fotograferande av tidigare ofotograferade objekt samt bästa bildserie om minst tio fotografier av samma objekt. Tävlingen börjar 1 maj, och pågår under hela maj månad. Om du har varit ute i världen och rest kan du även se om resorna sammanfaller med övriga internationella deltävlingar, och i så fall vara med och tävla även där. Expeditioner, fotosafari eller en helt vanlig promenad? Via listorna på Wikipedia hittar du bra ställen att besöka – eller varför inte damma av fotoalbumen och tävla med bilder du har tagit tidigare?

Dann ist das missverständlich. Mit der regulären Struktur war eigentlich die Landkreiskategorie gemeint. Die Idee dahinter ist, dass die alten Fotos ja ein NSG zeigen. Das Template ist wichtig, es enthält den Hinweis wann das NSG aufgelöst wurde und welche Fotos in diese Kategorie einsortiert werden können. GPSLeo (talk) 18:14, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

@XRay weil du auch gerade in dem Bereich bearbeitest. Ehemalige Schutzgebiete sollen nicht nach "Ehemaliges Schutzgebiet" verschoben werden. Die Fotos in der Kategorie zeigen ja kein ehemaliges Schutzgebiet sondern aus der Sicht des Aufnahmedatums das Schutzgebiet. Bei Gebäuden packen wir ja auch nicht in den Kategorienamen wenn diese abgerissen wurden. Das Template {{Protected area Germany}} erstellt einen gut sichtbaren Hinweis wann das Gebiet aufgelöst oder ersetzt wurde und bis zu welchem Datum Fotos entsprechend einsortiert werden sollen. Ich hatte nur nach einer Lösung für die eher unglückliche Verschiebung diverser Bilder und die dadurch entstandenen leeren Kategorien gesucht. Namensschemata mit "ehemalig" gab es schon, also nutzte ich diese als Vorbild. (Es hätte ausgereicht, die Kategorie des ehemaligen Naturschutzgebiets dem neuen, größeren zuzuordnen. Es ist ja schon auch eine Information das ein Foto in der schon länger als NSG ausgewiesenen Teilfläche aufgenommen wurde. Es gibt ja auch für beide Gebiete ein Wikidataitem. Es gibt immer wieder Grenzfälle bei denen man sagen könnte, dass es ein neues Schutzgebiet ist oder nur eine Erweiterung eines bestehenden Schutzgebiet, bei dem ich auch nur verschieben und das Wikidataitem anpassen würde. In diesem Fall sehe ich das aber nicht. Ich habe die das Konzept für die Schutzgebietskategorien dort jetzt noch etwas präzisiert Commons:WikiProject protected areas/Germany#Ehemalige Gebiete. Kategorie, Pferdestall Alt-Hellersdorf 17

Hallö @GPSLeo,

Du hattest Ende letzten Jahres diese Kategorie erstellt, diese selbst ist ansich auch richtig, nur zwei der Bilder die Du dort einsortiert hast nicht. Die ersten beiden Bilder zeigen ein anderes Gebäude, vermutlich das: 09050032 Alt-Hellersdorf 27, Scheune, um 1890 (unter der Hausnummer 27 adressieren dort wohl aber gleich mehrere Gebäude). Diese Denkmalnummer lässt sich leider in der Denkmaldatenbank nicht aufrufen. Der Uploader hat bei den beiden Bildern leider die falsche Denkmalnummer angegeben und die falsche Bezeichnung in den Dateinamen geschrieben. Das Bild File:20150927 Gut Hellersdorf Pferdestall IMG 0444 by sebaso.jpg ist dort richtig und zeigt den Pferdestall. Das Bild File:Alt-Hellersdorf Hellersdorf 20110712 AMA fec (34).JPG zeigt ebenso diesen ehemaligen Pferdestall.

Ein Dilemma ist dort jetzt generell, das sich mit der Neugestaltung des Gutes, die ganze Nummerierung geändert hat, da die Gebäude vom Kern des Gutes nun unter Gut-Hellersdorf adressieren.

Die Kategorie 'Ensemble Städtisches Rieselgut Hellersdorf' sollte vielleicht auch 'Denkmalensemble ...' heißen, um klarzumachen, das es sich dabei nur um die Zusammenführung der Denkmale im Gesammtareal Gut-Hellersdorf aka Alt-Hellersdorf handelt, ohne die noch dazwischenstehenden Gebäude..

Wie du schon vermutet hast, habe ich mich einfach auf die Korrektheit der angegebenen ID verlassen. Die ID für die Scheune ist 09085032 und enthält keine weiteren Gebäude neben der Scheune. Ich würde weiter die in der Denkmaldatenbank verwendeten Adressen verwenden, wenn sie dort geändert werden kann man die Kategorien ja immer noch verschieben und die Labels auf Wikidata anpassen.

Gibt es denn Gebäude die architektonisch zum Ensemble gehören, nicht aber in der Fläche des Denkmalensembles liegen? GPSLeo (talk) 10:06, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

danke für die Antwort. Wenn Du bei der Antwort das so mit dem @ machst, bekommt der jenige eine Nachricht, das es etwas gibt. Dann muß man nicht extra ans nachgucken denken, ob es eine Rückmeldung gab.

Die ID für die Scheune hatte ich ja vermutet, nur wie ich schrieb, lässt diese sich zur Überprüfung nicht aufrufen (wenn es denn unter der jeweiligen Nr. überhaubt ein Vergleichsbild gibt).

Das ersteinmal beibehalten der Adressen wie in der offiziellen Darenbank ist denke ich auch ersteinmal angebracht, fals jemand eventuell dort Abgleichen möchte, das er nicht verwirrt ist. Man sollte wohl blos den Umstand der Adressänderung in die Kategoriebeschreibung setzen.

Ich habe mich nocheinmal durch die Denkmalliste gegraben und denke, das alles was noch verblieben ist und nach dem alten aussieht, ist auch in das Ensemble mit aufgenommen. Es gibt dabei nur drei Gebäude die für sich einzeln nicht als Baudenkmal gelten. Außerdem 2 Gebäude die mann eher als auf etwas alt aussehend gemachte Neubauten deuten würde und einige dazwischen (von denen noch mehr werden sollen) die nicht zum Ensemble gehören.

Mein Gedanke mit der Kategorieumbenennung auf 'Denkmalensemble...' war zum einen, das es ja eines ist und wenn man unbedarft über ein Bild in dieser Kategorie landet, fällt einem die Einordnung der Überkategorie ja nicht gleich auf und man ist verwirrt. So ging es mir beim ersten entdecken dieser Kategorie auch, zumal dann dort Bilder drin sind, die wieder in der Straßenkategorie 'Alt-Hellersdorf' nicht enthalten sind und umgekehrt. Auch wird das durchsehen bei der Sache noch dadurch gestört, das in der öffentlichen Komunikation mal 'Gut Hellersdorf', mal 'Stadtgut Hellerdorf' und teils auch das 'Städtische Rieselgut Hellersdorf' auftaucht. Und nun gibt es auchnoch die Straße 'Gut Hellersdorf'

Also nocheinmal etwas kürzer, das mann letztlich einmal die klaar erkennbare Sammelkategorie der Denkmale hat und dann die Kategorien für die jeweiligen Straßen.

hello, I'm writing here because of some category (redirect) deletion.
Those were about an italian international petroleum company, we were having a discussion here.
I think that Category:IP (brand) and Category:IP - Italiana Petroli should remain as redirect: the first bcs commons is an interlanguage project so only italian is not correct/enough and the second one bcs is the actually official complete name. I ask you to restore those pages.
I know that another user (Tidistruggo) went through but i suspect he's a sockpuppet (of the others account already blocked like Appartei, Palledidinosauro and Cobrax88).

Bild tauschen

Hallo Leo, auf der Seite https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Landschaftsschutzgebiet_Partheaue befindet sich rechts im aufgeklappten Fenster zum LSG Partheaue ein Foto, das aber ein Motiv aus dem LSG Parthenaue Machern zeigt. Plaußig ist ein Stadtteil von Leipzig und liegt im LSG Partheauen Machern bzw. im FFH-Gebiet Partheaue – ein Problem, das ich schon durch Verschieben vieler fälschlicherweise in das LSG Partheaue kategorisierter Bilder in die Kategorie LSG Parthenaue Machern korrigiert habe. Nun würde ich gern auch noch diesen Fehler korrigieren, – aber ich komme damit nicht klar. Ich würde gern anstelle des jetzt noch doch stehenden Fotos mein Foto https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Blick_nach_Westen_entlang_der_K8351_in_Richtung_Otterwisch.jpg einfügen, bekomme es aber nicht hin. Wenn ich dieses Bild noch einmal lade, wird mir angezeigt, dass das erneut hochgeladene Foto eine Kopie des schon vorhandenen Fotos ist. Leider konnte ich allerdings nicht auf die jeweiligen Wikipedia-Seiten dieser Landschaftsschutzgebiete verlinken, sondern nur auf die Wikimedia-Commons-Seiten. Zu beiden existieren noch keine Seiten. – Ich getraue mir aktuell allerdings noch nicht zu, zu beiden LSG neue Seiten zu generieren. Wer könnte das aus welchem Grundmaterial machen? Es werden häufiger in den Gebietslisten nicht die eigentlichen Gebiete sondern geografische Objekte aus den Gebietsnamen verlinkt. In vielen Fällen ist das sinnvoll, manchmal aber auch nicht, dann kannst du die Verlinkung einfach entfernen. GPSLeo (talk) 19:13, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Earth 2025 – Deutschland – Vielen Dank für deine Teilnahme

Hallo GPSLeo,

der Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth 2025 in Deutschland ist beendet. Im Rahmen der Kampagne haben 350 Teilnehmende 13.497 Fotos hochgeladen, die bereits über 1.000 Artikel in über 40 Wikipedia-Sprachversionen und Einträge auf Wikidata bebildern. Sämtliche Ergebnisse kannst du hier ansehen.

Um aus diesen Beiträgen die besten Fotos zu finden, läuft bis zum 16. August die Vorjury. Über Unterstützung bei dieser würden wir uns sehr freuen.

Die Siegerfotos werden voraussichtlich am 1. September verkündet.

Am 1. September 2025 startet zudem der Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments rund um Kultur- und Baudenkmäler. Fotografiere dafür jetzt schon die passenden Motive.

Bitte um Löschen zweier Kategorien

Hallo GPSLeo, kannst Du mir bitte die beiden Kategorien “Südlich von Otterwisch“ und „Nördlich von Großbardau“ löschen? Beide habe ich ersetzt. In beiden Fällen habe ich nun jeweils den Ort als erstes gesetzt und dann – durch Komma getrennt – die Himmelsrichtung. Das ergab sich so als Notwendigkeit durch das Fotografieren in diesem kleinteilig strukturierten Landschaftsschutzgebiet über einen längeren Zeitraum.

Ich finde es besser, wenn in einer Kategorie wegen der alphabetischen Reihenfolge der Unterkategorien jeweils der Ort erst genannt wird, unter dessen Anfangsbuchstaben auch gesucht werden kann, und dann unterschiedliche Lagen der Motive mit den daraufhin folgenden Himmelsrichtungen angegeben werden.

Es gibt ja nunmehr auch in der Kategorie „Landschaftsschutzgebiet Partheaue“ die Unterkategorien „Otterwisch, nordwestlich von“ und „Großbardau, nördlich von“, also jeweils zwei Unterkategorien von „Otterwisch“ und „Großbardau“.

Andere Ideen, den Wust von Bildern zu gliedern, habe ich aktuell noch nicht.

Ich habe heute übrigens mit dem Bebildern und textlichen Ergänzen von Artikeln begonnen. Es sind die Artikel https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6sel und https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Otterwisch&stable=0&shownotice=1&fromsection=Landschafts-_und_Naturschutz.

Ich finde das Illustrieren – besonders von großflächigen Dingen wie Schutzgebieten – mit Hilfe von mittig stehenden Galerien recht ansprechend.

Die neuen Kategorien sind leider auch nicht passend für das Kategoriensystem. Alles außer Eigennamen sollte immer auf englisch sein. Auch verstehe ich nicht ganz die Idee dahinter. Kategorien nach dem Muster Blick von X in Richtung Y/Himmelsrichtung Z werden eigentlich nur für Blicke von Bergen, Türmen oder ähnliches verwendet. Hier sind es doch einfach nur Fotos die entlang eines Feldwegs aufgenommen wurden und allen an verschiedenen Enden des Wegs in die selbe Richtung gucken? Wenn du da für dich ein System hast wäre das besser das über eine Galerie abzubilden und nicht über Kategorien. Wenn du nicht alles in der übergeordnete Kategorie packen willst, würde ich eher Kategorien für Weg, Wald, Acker, Weide... angelegen. GPSLeo (talk) 17:13, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

On such a small YouTube channel it is unlikely that the person who made the video with their webcam really agreed to release the video unter the given license. The file was kept in a regular deletion request one week ago. Nominating a file for speedy deletion that was kept in a regular deletion request should never be requested for speedy deletion. The hole photo shows an artwork. Without permission of the artist the photo violates the copyright of the artist. Cropping or blurring would make the photo unusable as showing nothing interesting anymore. GPSLeo (talk) 10:48, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

I now understand that the entire image is considered an artwork and therefore cannot be hosted on Commons without the artist’s permission. I will respect this and refrain from re-uploading the file unless I can obtain the necessary written permission from the copyright holder.

As a side note — since the photo was intended to illustrate the award for the Keinohrhasen soundtrack — could you perhaps give me a hint on how best to provide a reliable source for this fact in the German Wikipedia article on Dirk Reichardt? At the moment, this statement is being questioned there, and I would like to reference it correctly.

I do not know the discussion but normally referring to something that can only be confirmed in the museum where the artworks hangs should be fine. We also accept references to books where there is only one copy in one library. GPSLeo (talk) 11:14, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

I must admit I find it a bit surprising that the photo was deleted so quickly, given that Dirk Reichardt himself had explicitly and comprehensively licensed it via email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org.

Could you please explain why this was not considered sufficient in this case?

In addition, regarding the German Wikipedia article: the claim that he was awarded for the Keinohrhasen soundtrack is currently being challenged.

Would it, in your view, be sufficient to refer to a source that can only be consulted at the location where the award is displayed (for example, in a museum or exhibition)?

If possible, could you point me towards a practical way to obtain or cite such a reference for this case?

Hi, I noticed that you deleted File:Wolfgang Marzin (2022).jpg due to missing VRT permission. Could you clarify why it's needed in this case? The only reverse image search results I could find are on Wikimedia sites and Mozamaniac has uploaded many other photos with EXIF data from the same Huawei phone model, so I don't see any reason to doubt own work. There was a complaint of the company of the subject of the photo that he did not consent on the publishing and you did not respond to the deletion request. bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2025 findet zum 15. Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Vergangenes Jahr hat GPSLeo mit dem Verladeturm Oderhafen Groß Neuendorf während eines Hochwassers gewonnen. Welcher Fotograf oder welche Fotografin tritt dieses Jahr die Nachfolge an?

Nach WLM 2024 sind wieder zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden – zum Beispiel in Greiz in Thüringen oder in Königslutter am Elm in Niedersachsen. Nachdem es in Thüringen über lange Zeit nicht überall Kulturdenkmallisten gab, ist dieses Bundesland jetzt fast vollständig abgedeckt und die Listen freuen sich über Fotos. Hier findest du einen Einstieg in die Thüringer Listen.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Für das einfache Auffinden haben wir eine Upload-Karte erstellt, in der viele aber leider noch nicht alle Kulturdenkmale angezeigt werden können. Das Laden der Objekte dauert dort etwas.

Wir haben dieses Jahr drei Sonderpreise für Bilder zum Thema „Bauernhöfe und Bauernhäuser“ ausgelobt.

Non-deletion of an evident fake AI image

Hi, could you please clarify your decision here: Commons:Deletion requests/File:129339 shaarayim neighborhood in rehovot PikiWiki Israel.png? I agree that photos from GLAM cooperation "should be" fine, and I also believe that the world "should be" a peaceful place. Unfortunately, the things are not always the way they "should be". It is evident to anyone that this image is not as it "should be", but an obvious MidJourney fake generation that managed to find its way, misteriously, to Pikiwiki (I assume that even a high level of moderation cannot prevent such incidents in a hermetic manner). It is also confirmed to be AI by online AI recognition tools.

How can a fake misleading image with false description be kept just because some cooperation "should be" usually trusted (but, as any system, is clearly not error-proof, and the error is so obvious)? The rule states that "If the closing admin is unable to say with reasonable certainty that the file can validly be kept, it should be deleted in accordance with Commons' precautionary principle". The source of this image is this page of Pikiwiki project. The work is attributed there to Yaakov Ben-Dov, but, other than the uploader's statement, there is no evidence to confirm this authorship. The uploader there is one Israel Parker, I have no idea who this person is, what his motivations are or what his credibility is, he could be Peter Parker's twin for all we know. Even if he is fully innocent, we all are well aware that "Auch der Klügste macht Fehler". Just trust your own eyes for a second: look at the image, this is a clear MidJourney generation with faceless monsters, some of them having limbs growing out of their neck instead of a head. How can you not see it? Check the image in any AI recognition tool, some are available online for free. It is clear that the attribution to Yaakov Ben-Dov, as well as the image itself and its details, is a blatant lie (or a terrible mistake), since Yaakov Ben-Dov is not a MidJourney creator. Sonnenuntergang Falkenfelsen

Hallo GPSLeo, bei den Fotos in Category:Views from Hertahütte fällt mir das eine besonders auf: Da scheint irgendetwas vor die Kamera geraten zu sein, das ziemlich nah an der Linse ist. Weißt du noch, was das sein soll? Ist es Absicht? Ansonsten würde ich es für einen Löschkandidaten halten oder zumindest eine Erklärung in der Beschreibung erwarten. Viele der zahlreichen ähnlichen Fotos, die du in die Kategorie geladen hast, sind sowieso wenig brauchbar, weil die Kamera vom Dynamikumfang der Situation überfordert ist. Die Sonne überstrahlt, die Landschaft im Dunkel verschwunden. Das alles hochzuladen, ist für die Nutzer schon eine kleine Zumutung. Man würde hier als Sonnenuntergangs-Fotograf mit Verlaufsfiltern, Belichtungsreihen, HDR usw. arbeiten. Gruß Sitacuisses (talk) 17:10, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

Auf dem Foto ist einfach ein Teil des Felsens auf dem ich war zu sehen. Im Grunde gehört das Foto also gar nicht in die "Views from" Kategorie sondern in die Kategorie vom Felsen selbst, auch wenn man von diesem natürlich nichts erkennen kann. Die Zahl der Fotos würde ich heute nicht mehr so hochladen. Das die Dynamik so schlecht ist liegt daran, dass ich zu diesem Zeitpunkt auch noch ausschließlich unbearbeitete JPEGs hochgeladen habe. Die Kamera kann, insbesondere bei diesen ISO-Werten, deutlich mehr. Ich könnte von ein paar Fotos theoretisch neue aus den RAW-Dateien bearbeitete Versionen hochladen. POTY protection

Dear GPSLeo,

Thanks much for having protected the POTY pages. Your help on the matter is very appreciated.

I however just noticed something: the protection extends further than the pages requested which will be problematic for POTY round 2.

For POTY round 2, Ingenuity (which has no admin access) will have to create this page on 27 September 2025 23:59:59 UTC: Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2024/Gallery/Finalists/data.json but with the current protection he will not be able to do it because currently only admins can create this page (and there was no request to protect this page before it's creation).

Could you please find a way for Ingenuity to be able to create this page on 27/28 September 2025 ?

I think with current way the protection works there is no simple way to solve this. I see two possible options: @Ingenuity asks and admin to perform the edit. Depending on the time I could do this. The other option would be to grant temporary (interface) admin right to him for this. But there the bureaucrats have to decide if this is fine within our policies (I would say yes). If these both ways are not possible we would have to switch how the protection works what requires some script to perform the protection change on all these pages. Only Ingenuity can perform the edit of the Finalists data json that relies on a POTY admin script that needs POTY committee access and technical understanding of the script to fix bugs.

Last year Ingenuity was granted template editor right on a temporary basis in order for him to be able to directly edit MediaWiki:POTY-gallery.js.

I don't know if the template editor right is suffiscient to create and edit Commons:Picture of the Year/2024/Gallery/Finalists/data.json but if it is I think Ingenuity should be granted the right again this year on a temporary basis. Pinging @AntiCompositeNumber who gave that right last year.

If template editor is not enough then we should probably unprotect the Finalists data json until the page is created (and edited in case of bugs).

Template editor right is not sufficient to edit MediaWiki:POTY-gallery.js. This requires interface admin rights. He edited the page before it was moved by an interface admin. The options are temporary interface admin rights or changing the script to create the page in user space and ask an interface admin to move it. I would suggest to ask for temporary interface admin rights at Commons:Bureaucrats' noticeboard. GPSLeo (talk) 15:05, 23 September 2025 (UTC)

Kategorien für Berliner Baudenkmale

Hallo Leo, Du hast in den letzten Tagen viele Kategorien für Baudenkmale in Berlin angelegt. Im Grundsatz ein lobenswerter Einsatz. Allerdings gab es in mindestens zwei Fällen bereits eine Kategorie für das Denkmal:

• Category:Realgymnasium (Berlin-Köpenick) gibt es schon als Category:Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule (Berlin),
• Category:Siedlung Gebag (Berlin-Oberschöneweide) gibt es schon als Category:Siedlung Gebag

Da ist jetzt wohl aufräumen angesagt. Rotkraut (talk) 14:04, 19 October 2025 (UTC)

Die Duplikate entstehen dort wo die bestehende Kategorie nicht mit einem Wikidataitem verknüpft ist, dass die korrekte Denkmal-ID enthält, wie bei Category:Siedlung Gebag. Hier liegt der Fehler schon in dem Duplikate auf Wikidata. Außerdem entstehen Duplikate wo die bestehende Kategorie nicht in der Denkmalkategorie einsortiert war, wie bei Category:Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule (Berlin). Das lässt sich nicht verhindern. Nacharbeiten mache ich sowieso, da ich alle Fotos die aktuell in den Denkmalkategorien der Ortsteile liegen exakt einsortiere. Ich erstelle nur vorher einmal alle Kategorien. Bei Category:Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule (Berlin) und Category:Realgymnasium (Berlin-Köpenick) sehe ich übrigens kein richtiges Duplikat. Das eine kann die Kategorie für das Schulgebäude sein und die andere für die heutige Schule or Organisation. Für die heutige Schule gibt es aktuell allerdings nicht einmal ein Wikidataitem. Ja, richtig, nur ist das eben die Realität mit der wir umgehen müssen, dass eben nicht alle Kategorien konsequent und widerspruchsfrei mit einem Wikidataitem verknüpft sind.

Was Category:Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule (Berlin) versus Category:Realgymnasium (Berlin-Köpenick) betrifft, ist das in der Theorie schon richtig, dass man zwischen dem Gebäude als Baudenkmal und der in dem Gebäude untergebrachten Einrichtung unterscheiden kann. (Nebenbei: die Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule in Köpenick ist unter diesem Namen auch schon längst Geschichte.) Nur geht es bei Category:Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule (Berlin) eben (ausweislich der darin untergebrachten Medien) eben nicht um die Schule, sondern um das Gebäude. Soweit ich erkennen kann, gibt es auf Commons keine Medien zu der Einrichtung „Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule Köpenick“, daher braucht es dafür auch keine Kategorie.

Insofern wäre es vermutlich die beste Lösung, Category:Realgymnasium (Berlin-Köpenick) zu behalten (weil das Baudenkmal eben unter diesem Namen errichtet wurde und in der Denkmaldatenbank Berlin eingetragen ist) und in Category:Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule (Berlin) einen Category redirect zu setzen. Wenn es die Schule unter diesem Namen nicht mehr gibt es natürlich eher unwahrscheinlich, dass es dort noch Fotos geben wird die in die Schulkategorie gehören. Bei noch existierenden Schulen würde ich sagen, dass man da die Kategorie ruhig schon einmal anlegen kann auch wenn sie zunächst nur die Kategorie für das Gebäude und sonst nichts enthält. Ich habe auch ein paar Dopplungen gefunden (In Köpenick) und etwas aufgeräumt, aber ansonsten super! :)

(z.B. den Bellevuepark gabs schon in Wikidata und als Commons cat, sowie das Wasserwerk Köpenick, beide hatten auch die entsprechende Denkmal-ID bereits verknüpft gehabt, und beim Amtsgericht vs. Amtstgerichtsgebäude vs. Stadtbezirksgericht Köpenick gab es IMO noch Uneindeutigkeit, die jetzt hoffentlich etwas besser erkennbar sind.) Das mit den doppelten Einträgen trotz ID passiert, weil die ID teilweise mit einem ",T" angegeben sind. Der Link führt auf die selbe Seite. In den Geodaten gibt es das ",T" jedoch nicht. Bei Dingen wie dem Wasserwerk muss man jedoch aufpassen. Häufig sind bei solchen Objekten nur die Altbauten geschützt, nicht die Neubauten, da braucht es dann zwei Items. Für das Einsortieren der Fotos in die Objektkategorien habe ich übrignes eine Übersichtsseite zum Arbeitsstand erstellt Commons:WikiProject Wiki Loves Categories Germany/Berlin. Das sind eher Sachen wie komplett kopierte E-Mails mit Daten von Dritten oder ähnliches. Hier war es ja einfach nur irgendein merkwürdiger Spam der in dieser Form aber regelmäßig vorkommt. Hilfe mit Audios

Hallo! Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich im Help desk gepostet, dass ich Audiodateien stapelweise hochladen möchte. Dort wurde mir gesagt, dass ich mich an einen Interface Administrator wenden soll, der möglicherweise mehr Erfahrung hat und mir helfen könnte. Hab dir einfach zufällig gewählt. Kannst du mir dabei helfen oder empfehlst du mir jemand anderen? Vielleicht wäre es sogar besser, wenn ich dir (oder jemand anderem) die Audios schicken würde und du sie für mich hochladen könntest? Es geht eher darum, dass ich nicht weiß, wie ich all das machen soll, d.h. konvertieren, umbenennen, hochladen und richtig kategorisieren. Deshalb brauche ich entweder eine Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung oder jemanden, der das für mich erledigt. Aus diesem Grund habe ich mich an jemanden gewandt, der sich damit besser auskennt. Eine richtige Anleitung gibt es nicht, da die Fälle und Bedarfe zu individuell sind. Ich habe vor einem Jahr einen Vortrag dazu gehalten, wie ich das für meinen Fotos mache, der relevante Teil beginnt bei Minute 20. Für das Kovertieren würde ich mir von einem LLM-Tool ein kleines Script schreiben lassen, das kann direkt auch das Namensschema anwenden. Diese Dateinamen dann in eine Tabelle packen und dort alle Beschreibungen und Kategorien eintragen und würde diese Tabelle dann mit Pattypan hochladen. GPSLeo (talk) 16:22, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Ich habe mich bewundert, was für ein LC-Display in Halle H stand. Dank deinen super scharfen Fotos (1/2) habe ich die c3-interne Webseite des Projekts (parklight24.de) daraus gelesen und nach ein bisschen Forschung auch den Projekteintrag und alles, was ich wissen wollte, gefunden.

Wiki Loves Folklore 2026 - Deutschland

Hallo GPSLeo,

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. Februar bis zum 31. März 2026 findet zum dritten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Folklore (kurz: WLF) in Deutschland statt. Mögliche Motive sind gelebte Traditionen wie Feste, Aufführungen, Tänze, Musiktradition, Brauchtum, Spiele, Küche, Tracht, Märchen und Sagen. Viele dieser Kulturgüter sind als Immaterielles Kulturerbe gemäß der UNESCO-Konvention anerkannt. Du hast in den vergangenen Jahren teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, auch dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

• 
  Nächtliche Feuershow mit einem „Feuerteufel“ bei einem Perchtenlauf in Bayern
• 
  Almabtrieb mit mehreren Mitarbeitern und der Kuhherde von der Alpe Dinjörgen aus dem Lochbachtal im Allgäu
• 
  Mitglieder der Alt-Schlierseer Trachtengruppe rudern in zwei Plätten von Fischhausen nach Schliersee

Bei den drei Siegerbildern sind nur grandiose Motive aus Bayern dabei. Du kannst mit deinen Fotos helfen, Bayern vom Wiki-Loves-Folklore-Thron zu stoßen, du kannst aber auch dafür sorgen, dass Bayern den Titel erneut verteidigt.

Der englische Begriff Folklore umfasst vieles, was man im Deutschen unter Folklore versteht, aber er geht noch weiter. Schau nach gelebten Traditionen und Bräuchen in deiner Nähe.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben Festen sind es Handwerkstraditionen oder Gerichte und Getränke, die auf Fotos von dir warten. Als Orientierung helfen das Bundesweite Verzeichnis des immateriellen Kulturerbes oder Landeslisten wie das Landesverzeichnis des Immateriellen Kulturerbes in Sachsen-Anhalt oder das Verzeichnis des Immateriellen Kulturerbes im Saarland. Es fehlen unter anderem Bilder vom Barther Kinderfest, Kulturformen der Nutzung bäuerlicher Gemeinschaftswälder im Steigerwald, Marktredwitzer Krippenkultur, Bad Dürrenberger Brunnenfest oder von der Fastnacht an der Saar.

Wir vergeben auch in diesem Jahr drei Sonderpreise für Videos und Audiodateien, da sich viele Traditionen gut im Video oder per Tonaufnahme darstellen lassen. Wir empfehlen, Videos kurz zu halten und sinnvoll zu schneiden.

Als Einstieg für die Suche nach Motiven hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Dort sind die nationalen Listen des immateriellen Kulturerbes aufgeführt.

Damit es ab dem 1. Februar mit dem Upload schnell geht:

Außerdem laden wir dich ein, vom 16. Februar bis Mitte April 2026 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Damit bewertest du die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelst so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die Ende April tagen wird, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Folklore 2026 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool für Bilder ist bald hier freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und Passwort. Die Videos werden in einem separaten Vorjurytool bewertet, der Link wird später auf unseren Seiten bekanntgegeben.

In diesem Jahr gibt es eine wichtige Regeländerung: Es können beliebig viele Bilder hochgeladen werden, aber nur die besten 50 Bilder pro Fotograf:in werden von der Hauptjury bewertet. Wir freuen uns weiterhin auf interessante Fotoserien von dir. Fractional values in degrees and minutes inside location templates?

Hi, there! Is there a particular reason why you're using fractions as degrees and minutes inside of location templates, such as in this upload: {{Location |52.0|30.9816658|0.0|N|13.0|22.7401345|0.0|E}}? This is just the default format of location information in the EXIF-data. I do not calculate it to other notations or coordinate systems. GPSLeo (talk) 05:23, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

The location data in those files is stored in a somewhat unorthodox format (D,M.M - degrees and decimal minutes), but then on the template the degree is being added a .0 and the seconds is populated with 0. I’m wondering which step of the way is doing that - are you using the Upload Wizard? Rkieferbaum (talk) 11:51, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

I have my own script and I think I wrote it this way to also work if the input is really DMS as this might be different depending on the exif Version. I was close to the limit of my ability to express myself in German just in my simple question to Bwag.

For the record, no, I do not consider a month block at all excessive. In my view, importing drama from one wiki to another and harassing users here is a moderately serious offense, especially when they continue past a warning for doing so. bald ist wieder der 1. Mai, an dem die Wiki-Loves-Earth-Saison in Deutschland beginnt, die bis zum 30. Juni läuft. Dabei können wie immer Nationalparks, Naturschutzgebiete, Landschaftsschutzgebiete und Naturdenkmäler oder andere Schutzgebiete fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich ein, auch dieses Jahr wieder mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos! In diesem Jahr möchten wir einen weiteren Meilenstein erreichten: 50 % aller Schutzgebiete sollen bebildert sein. Dafür fehlen uns noch Fotos aus etwa 900 Gebieten. Auch in deiner Nähe!

Der Wettbewerb ist zweigeteilt, das heißt, wir unterscheiden zwischen den beiden Wettbewerbskategorien Landschaft und Detail/Makro. Zur Wettbewerbskategorie Landschaft zählen auch geschützte Einzelbäume. In der Wettbewerbskategorie Detail/Makro werden Fotos von Pflanzen, Tieren und Pilzen in den Schutzgebieten bewertet.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben als Naturdenkmal geschützten alten Bäumen oder den großen Nationalparks der Mittelgebirge und am Meer können auch große und kleine landwirtschaftlich geprägte Landschaftsschutzgebiete dokumentiert werden. Auch zu über 16.000 Naturdenkmalen haben wir noch keine Fotos. Wo noch Fotos fehlen, kannst du über die Karte oder die umfangreichen Listen in Wikipedia herausfinden.

In diesem Jahr können mal wieder auch Fotos außerhalb von Schutzgebieten am Wettbewerb teilnehmen. Dafür haben wir den Sonderpreis mit dem Thema Stadtnatur ausgerufen.

Sollte ich mal wieder eine ähnliche Aktion von Ihnen sehen, so wie diese, mit wahllosem Verschieben allen Inhalts aus Category:Bahnhof Berlin-Grunewald nach Category:Empfangsgebäude S-Bahnhof Grunewald (Berlin-Grunewald), egal ob das besagte Empfangsgebäude auf dem Bild zu sehen ist oder nicht, — sehen wir uns auf ANU. --A.Savin 19:35, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

Der entsprechende Wikidataeintrag heißt nun mal Empfangsgebäude. Die Denkmalanlage beinhaltet aber auch den Tunnel und die Bahnsteige, aber nicht die Gedenkstätte und das Stellwerk. Das ist alles in dem Wikidataitem verlinkt. GPSLeo (talk) 20:00, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

Man kann die Kategorie natürlich auf Category:Gesamtanlage Empfangsgebäude & Bahnsteig & Tunnel S-Bahnhof Grunewald (Berlin-Grunewald) verschieben, auch wenn es eigentlich nicht nötig ist. Für Denkmalkategorien haben wir nun mal kein Namensschema. Ein andere User hat an andere Stelle schon angefangen die Objektbezeichnungen aus Kategorienamen zu löschen und nur die Adresse als Kategoriename zu verwenden. ich hab dazu zwei Fragen oder Bitten:

• kannst du einen ähnlichen Hinweis für die Zwischenebenen wie hier Category:Special Areas of Conservation in Landkreis Havelland erstellen und per Bot ausbringen
• kannst du einen ähnlichen Hinweis für die Naturdenkmal- und Geotop-Einzel-Cats erstellen und ausbringen

I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.

Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!

I see that you indefinitely autopatrolled-protected that page in 2025 after deeming that semi-protection did not prevent spam; accordingly, could you update the protection notice on it to say that editing is restricted to autopatrolled users? Commons Photographers: Our next meeting (05/2026)

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

I hope you’re well and enjoy your time as a photographer on Wikimedia Commons. In my role of the new chair of the user group, I have a couple of updates to share with you.

After the election, the new board met for the first time on March 21 and immediately got to work. We elected the organization’s officers and decided to move from quarterly to monthly board meetings. We believe meeting more frequently will create more opportunities to serve our members effectively and help move the group forward.

We also successfully applied for a pre-conference at the upcoming Wikimania in Paris (July 21–25). If you’re planning to attend the conference, please consider joining us on July 21th for a day full of conversations about photography and Commons. Please sign up here if you’re interested.

And finally, it’s my pleasure to invite you to our first online meeting, which will take place on May 31. Our member Wojciech, an experienced concert photographer, will give a talk on photographing orchestras during live performances. Did that "stricter blocking policy for copyright violations" pump proposal of yours ever get any further?

Invitation to the Wikimedia Commons Pre-Conference at the Wikimania 2026

Hello GPSLeo,

I want to invite you to participate at our Wikimedia Commons Pre-Conference at the Wikimania in Paris on July 21. If you want to join the pre-conference, please sign up on this page until July 7. Participation at the pre-conference is also possible without a ticket for the Wikimania. If you sign up before the deadline on July 7, you will get free access to the pre-conference day. Unfortunately, online participation will not be possible.

If you have something you want to present or you want to talk about at the pre-conference, please add it here, also until July 7.

There is also a service announcement for all photographers coming to Paris: Unfortunately, France has no freedom of panorama at all. Therefore, Commons does not accept photos of modern buildings, public art or light installations at night. Read more about the problem here.

Besides the invitation to our pre-conference, there is another announcement: We updated the membership list of the Commons Photographers User Group. The membership list is much smaller now and based on a template. This allows us to easily create message lists and statistics. Please have a look at your entry in the list and update it if needed.

Wiki Loves Earth 2026 – Deutschland – Vielen Dank für deine Teilnahme

Hallo GPSLeo,

der Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth 2026 in Deutschland ist beendet. Im Rahmen der Kampagne haben 274 Teilnehmende 10.354 Fotos hochgeladen, die bereits über 686 Wikipediaartikel und Einträge auf Wikidata bebildern. Sämtliche hochgeladenen Fotos kannst du hier ansehen.

Um aus diesen Beiträgen die besten Fotos zu finden, läuft bis zum 15. Juli die Vorjury. Über Unterstützung bei dieser würden wir uns sehr freuen.

Die Siegerfotos werden voraussichtlich Anfang August verkündet.

Wie in diesem Jahr wird es auch im nächsten Jahr wieder einen Sonderpreis geben. Im nächsten Jahr wird der Sonderpreis „Jahreszeitserien“ heißen. Wir suchen hier Aufnahmen des gleichen Motivs zu verschiedenen Jahreszeiten. Bis zum 1. Mai 2027 gibt es also schon etwas zu tun.

Wenn du nicht bis zum nächsten Jahr warten willst, kannst du ab dem 1. September bei Wiki Loves Monuments, dem Fotowettbewerb rund um Kultur- und Baudenkmäler, deine Fotos hochladen. Fotografiere dafür jetzt schon die passenden Motive.

Außerdem möchten wir an dieser Stelle auf unseren ersten Fotokurs hinweisen. Nach deiner Teilnahme an Wiki Loves Earth bist du zum Kurswochenende vom 28. bis 30. August in Fürth eingeladen. Danke für die neue Fassung der Membership list

Hallo GPSLeo,

ganz herzlichen Dank für die Überarbeitung der Membership list! Das neue Format ist viel besser strukturiert, was die Wartung erleichtert und auch die Darstellung verbessert. Besonderen Dank auch dafür, dass Du gleich alle vorhandenen Einträge ins neue Format konvertiert hast, inkl. der Website-Links usw. – das war sicher viel Arbeit.

Ich persönlich fand ja auch die Spalte für „favourite gear“ interessant, aber es war sicher richtig, sie wegzulassen, (i) um die Tabelle übersichtlicher zu machen und (ii) weil die meisten Einträge eher wenig aussagekräftig waren. Also eine gute Entscheidung!

Your MediaWiki mass message deliveries

Hello, you seem to use either Hello {{PAGENAME}} or {{<includeonly>safesubst:</includeonly>PAGENAME}} in the start of your MediaWiki mass message deliveries. First question: What does {{<includeonly>safesubst:</includeonly>PAGENAME}} do? Second question: It seems like it would be preferable if you used {{subst:PAGENAME}} instead since otherwise when the message gets archived it will say Hello User/Archive 1. I am a bit confused, I tested the {{subst:PAGENAME}} and it also used the full page name and not just the base. And one important warning: Do never change this in old messages on talk pages!
