Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

• In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
• In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
2. In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
3. In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

The award is a large ribbon with a medal (See image of medal in hewiki). To the best of my knowledge, there is only one version to this award as oppossed to many other awards which have several parrallel forms to be used as appropriate (e.g. File:Presidential-medal-of-freedom.jpg). שלום דיגיטל, אני לא מבינה את הערכיה שלך. הקישור לויקידטה לא צריך למנוע לקשור ישירות את הקטגוריה לערכים השונים בוויקיפדיות השונות. לפי הגיון זה לא צריך בינוויקי בערכים בוויקיפדיה העברית לערכים בשפות אחרות כי אפשר להיכנס לויקידטה. . זאת טירחה מיותרת ולא נדרשת. אני חושבת שעשית טעות ולא ברור לי על סמך מה אתה מבסס את העריכה שלך. מה שהיה רק הואיל ולא הפריע. אני מתייגת את גיאה שהוא מפעיל מערכת בוויקישיתוף ועורך בוויקיפדיה העברית לשמוע מה דעתו. שלום, למיטב ידיעתי הכללים בוויקינתונים הם שמחברים ברמת הבינוויקי בין קטגוריה לקטגוריה ובין מרחב ערכים למרחב ערכים אבל לא בין מרחב ערכים למרחב הקטגוריות וכיוון שבמקרה הזה ובמקרים אחרים יש קטגוריה הן בויקיפדיה אחת או יותר והן בויקישיתוף אז מקשרים ביניהם. אני יודע שדנו בבעייתיות של זה כי בפועל לרוב הערכים יש קטגוריה מקבילה בויקישיתוף אבל לא דף רגיל בויקישיתוף (וגם לא קטגוריה בויקיפדיה הרגילה) אבל למיטב ידיעתי החליטו להיצמד להפרדה בין מרחבים. בברכה, DGtal (talk) 08:09, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

הצעת ייעול

אינני יודע איפה אפשר לכתוב ולהציע זאת, אבל כיוון שראיתי שאתה administrator, אז אני כותב לך ישירות. 1. להוסיף בחלונית שפות צמוד לשם השפה, גם את שם הערך . 2. משהו עיצובי, לא יודע למה עכשיו ראשי הפרקים מופיעים על הצד, אבל אם ככה, לפחות לשים אותם ראשונים, לפני כל הלינקים שקשורים לויקיפדיה עצמה, והטכניים.

להבא שים לב ש-DEFAULTSORT עובד כמו מיון רגיל בויקיעברית - קודם שם משפחה ואז פרטי. בפועל לרוב אפשר לוותר על זה לגמרי אם בוויקינתונים הכניסו שדות של שם פרטי ושם משפחה. בהצלחה, DGtal (talk) 06:25, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

שלום, אני אסיים את הטיפול במהלך היום. אני ממליץ שאחרי הטיפול תשווה בין מה שיצרת לגרסה שלי כדי ללמוד מה עושים. שני תיקונים בולטים: במיון רגיל צריך לשים שם משפחה לפני פרטי ולא להיפך ובנוסף בכמה מקרים הזנת שם משפחה באות ראשונה קטנה במקום גדולה אז העברתי את הקטגוריה לשם הנכון. בהצלחה, DGtal (talk) 07:33, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

יש קיצור דרך מתוך ויקישיתוף כשאתה בדף הקטגוריה מימין למטה יש "דף זה בשפות אחרות" ואז "הוספת קישורים ומקלידים פנימה את השפה של העמוד בוויקיפדיה, למשל עברית, ואז את שם הדף ואז הוא מקשר בין הדף לקטגוריה דרך ויקינתונים. בלי קשר, סיימתי את הקטגוריות. בברכה, DGtal (talk) 12:24, 7 November 2023 (UTC)

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!

Hi everyone,

Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.

Here are your top three winning images:

I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.

Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
