Graph updates

Could you please update the two graphs above with the latest polls shown here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_next_Japanese_general_election#Party_identification_polling - please? The Democratic Party and the Liberal Party should not be included on either graph as neither party exists anymore, both having merged into other parties. Helper201 (talk) 20:39, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

@Helper201 I'm going to update them, but still include the DP and LP as they are still fairly important for trends. BSMIsEditing (talk) 08:31, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

Next Irish General Election

Hey man! I really love your work, keeping everything updated visually, is much needed and help simplifies things for user! On that note can I kindly request an update to "Next Irish General Election" polling graph? Much love! B. M. L. Peters (talk) 03:46, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

@B. M. L. Peters Done! BSMIsEditing (talk) 11:13, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
@UserBSMIsEditing May I request one more update! Didn't know a new poll would be released before I last asked! B. M. L. Peters (talk) 07:05, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
@B. M. L. Peters Also done!BSMIsEditing (talk) 12:57, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
One final update can I ask? I should have waited until the end of February which would signal a year since the election, but polling suggested a shift in support for various parties, this update should be fine for awhile! B. M. L. Peters (talk) 05:43, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Japanese election graphs

Hi, can you please update the two Japanese elections graphs I posted about on 9 October? Both are now about a year out of date. Thanks. Helper201 (talk) 15:23, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Austria Poll Chart

Hi,

could you please change the months/years below the chart ?

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Austria2024.svg

There are too many months, making it unreadable. Please only include years.

Thanks.

--The Pollster (talk) 11:18, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

@The Pollster Decided to do 6 months instead of 1 years. But it looks better still. BSMIsEditing (talk) 12:09, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi BSMIsEditing, thanks for updating and cleaning up the dates. Question: could you please create a 2nd chart without the MFG party - because their polling and intent to run is only hypothetical at this point ? If you create a 2nd chart, please only use the data on the top of the poll page (First table and second collapsed one with older data) with ÖVP, SPÖ, FPÖ, Greens, NEOS and „Others“. You can then add the new chart on top of the existing one. Thanks, --The Pollster (talk) 12:15, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

2022 Brazil graph

Hi @BSMIsEditing, I noticed on your Brazilian election graph for the second round, you included blank/undecided voters in the polls but then put the results as just the valid votes. As I'm sure you're aware, that can paint an inaccurate picture about how well the polls predicted the election. As such, would it be possible for you to either recalculate the data to exclude undecideds, to add a line for them, or just to change the result to 46.8% Bolsonaro, 48.6% Lula? Thanks Quinnnnnby (talk) 00:24, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi BSM. When you get a chance, can you update the Next Irish general election LOESS for December and January, please? Thanks in advance! Bastun (talk) 10:19, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

LOESS Plots

Hello @BSMIsEditing! I am interested in creating graphs similar to the ones you have created for the opinion polls and I was wondering how you make them. Would it be possible to let me know your process for creating these graphs and possibly a basic look at the code you use? Thank you! Coumor (talk) 00:56, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

I use this R code from Gbuvn which can be found here. BSMIsEditing (talk) 10:58, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. GPSLeo (talk) 15:22, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

One hint: If a file should be updated frequently please place the {{Current}} template on the top of the page. Then everyone knows that the file might change in the future. GPSLeo (talk) 15:24, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Austria Poll Chart colours

Hi. Could you please change the colour of the MFG party to purple (RGB: 128, 0, 128). In all other charts on Wikipedia and on public TV they are shown purple. (e.g. Landtagswahl in Oberösterreich 2021) And please make the word "Grüne" to "GRÜNE" because their official abbreviation is in capital letters.

--Kematen (talk) 14:45, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

The grey colour for MFG is based on that given by the English Wikipedia's {{Party color}} template, the purple seems to just be exclusive to the German Wikipedia (according to the presidential election article), so sorry about that. But I will capitalise GRÜNE given that it is consistent with over abbreviations. BSMIsEditing (talk) 19:08, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Code for creating these poll charts?

Hi BSM, I'm assuming that you, like many others, use the R Programming language to generate your graphs, and I'm wondering if you'd be willing to release it publicly as others have done, such as Canley and Ralbegen. I'd like to be able to learn more about said code and possibly create a few of these diagrams myself, thanks in advance! GlowstoneUnknown (talk) 10:27, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

I use Gbuvn's code as seen in the Germany articles. BSMIsEditing (talk) 18:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

2020 US Presidential Primaries

Would it be possible to eventually add these graphs to the 2020 primaries (especially the Democrats) as well? Currently the polling article consists of hundreds of polls that are basically indecipherable, so a visualization would really help. Jonas1015119 (talk) 07:47, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

File:Indonesia legislative polling 2024.svg

Hi BSMIsEditing. Could you update Gerindra Party's color in this graph? The color of the Gerindra Party was recently changed to dark red (#8B0000) on Wikipedia. Changing the color of Gerindra Party to dark red would also distinguish it from the Ummat Party. Thanks. RyanW1995 (talk) 13:56, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

Update polls for the 2024 Irish general election

Questions Regarding LOESS Graphs

I have two questions, both in regards to how to do things. I have the general idea of graph creation down pat, but I'm not sure how to add those diamonds at the very end or beginning to represent the actual election results; I don't intend to use it in the below example, but in General Election articles. I'm also not sure how to properly add a legend to the graph; the example I worked off of from Gbuvn has one at the base, but at some point at the start of editing it broke, and from then on refused to display.

 Walter Mondale
 Gary Hart
 Jesse Jackson
 John Glenn
 George McGovern
 Reubin Askew
 Fritz Hollings
 Alan Cranston

Ariostos (talk) 04:27, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

For the result diamons, the datapoint's date must be equal to "startdate" or "enddate".
As for the legend breaking, do you have the R file so that I can compare it with the ones that I use? Here's a basic 5 party setup for reference in the meantime.
scale_color_manual(name="",
breaks = c('col1','col2','col3','col4','col5'),
labels = c(party1,party2,party3,party4,party5),
values = c('col1'=col1,'col2'=col2,'col3'=col3,'col4'=col4,'col5'=col5))+
# legend appearance
theme(
axis.text.x = element_text(size = 11),
axis.text.y = element_text(size = 12),
axis.title.y = element_text(size = 16),
legend.position="right",
legend.key.width=unit(24, "pt"),
legend.key.height=unit(24, "pt"),
legend.text = element_text(size=16, margin = margin(b = 5, t = 5, unit = "pt"))) BSMIsEditing (talk) 16:49, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
I've added the R file and polling data I'm using to the description file for the 1992 Presidential Election. Now with this one, I'm not sure why there is some drift to the lefthand side given the chart is supposed to start on December 31st, the date of the first poll. Also, is there a way to 'split' a curve? Perot dropped out in the middle of the race, and then jumped back in some months later, and I don't want the curve to be continuous between those two dates.

Polls Rhineland-Palatinate 2026

de:Landtagswahl in Rheinland-Pfalz 2026 is coming up on 22 March 2026 and has two new polls in October 2025, but File:Opinion polls Rhineland-Palatinate 2026.svg is still as of June. Please update.
