I did send a request to Hebrew Wikipedia Graphic Lab, unfortunately they have not been receptive. I still continue to ask knowledgeable users to update the Holocaust denial law map in Wikimedia Commons.

One question: Can you edit PNG/GIF maps? The border of South Sudan needs to be added in the two widely used maps File:Hebrew speakers around the world.PNG and File:Yahudi Dilleri.gif. I think about posting this in Hebrew Wikipedia Graphic Lab, but after my first futile attempt, I don't hold my breath.

Request for you to look at some files

Hello, Geagea. Would you look at the files in Category:Photographs by the Israeli Ministry of Defense? That category has been redirected, but something is putting the old category on the files. I am asking you because I see that you edited some of the files. Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2024 voting is open!

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2024 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the nineteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2024) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 27 September 2025, 23:59:59 UTC.

I'd specifically like to pinpoint the year of the photo. The PICA was apparently only founded in 1924 so I don't see how/why the date is given as circa 1920-1925. IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 00:24, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi, you uploaded this file in June 2020. It appears that the description of the photo "Returning the bodies of 9 soldiers to Egypt" is copied from here. However it looks like that there is a mistake in the source. In the picture several IDF soldiers are buying watermelons, no bodies. @Altenmann, Dan Hadani collection was an Israeli photo agency. The photographers were sent to news avants to take a photos. In some cases they took photos that not connected directly to the event. Each group of images is grouped under the title of that event, hence the description. this category is a maintenance for a project I have created in he.wiki to identify the place, time, and people in the pictures - her the page for this event. -- Geagea (talk) 05:16, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
